You awaken, groggy and uncomfortable. Your hay-filled cot pains your back, and you reluctantly pull on a stained shirt and pants. You live in a small cottage- tucked in the middle of two cottages exactly like it. It is small and confining, with one room and an attic for storage. You have adjusted to living like this, seeing as you were born here and have lived here for your entire life. You look on your doorstep for the daily paper- hand delivered by Regalia's delivery system. You peer at it's contents.
Breaking news: Word of War Coming Soon!
Aging Queen of the dark kingdom, upon being interviewed by yours truly, revealed little yet important information in last week's interview. Here is a clip of the interview now:
Interviewer: So, we heard you and your fellow Queen of the light kingdom, have been communicating secretly.
Queen: Yes, we have.
Interviewer: Is it true a war is rising?
Queen: Well I daresay so. After everything that has been occuring, why wouldn't a war begin? Hopefully this war will change Regalia- for better or for worse.
Queen Ena was secretive, using deceptive tactics in order to manipulate me to believing her story. She was rather quiet, and hinted at treachery. Dear both kingdoms: it is recommended you watch her, before she- (See Page 3)
You sigh. The Light Kingdom is almost always blindsighted to the troubles of it's neighbor. You have hope for this war- and that is may relieve you of your poverty. However, danger comes with it. One villager in each home is required to join the war- and you live alone. You have two options: willingly go to war, or sneak out to avoid it. Go to Section A if wishing to go to war, and Section B if sneaking away.
Section A
Flash forward 5 days later, and you find yourself in a carriage heading to the bunker where you train. It is a blur as someone shows you to your bunk, handing you a set of mediocre armor. A general speaks to you as well as the other poor villagers surrounding you.
"I will divide you into two sections: Bandits and Knights. Bandits must help us rescue Princess Ember- by kidnapping Light Kingdom Citizens. They must be stealthy, moving quickly and quietly. They will be messengers to give us important information. Knights will be guards- helping guard the palace and the Queen. If promoted, you will then move to the battlefield. Choose carefully, and quicky." He has a gruff voice, sending chills down your back. Which will it be? Section C if wishing to be a bandit, section D if wishing to be a knight.
Section B
You crash through your window, and climb onto the roof. You are wearing a hood- and stealthily jump from rooftop to rooftop, hitch hiking onto a delivery carriage going to the Light Kingdom. You are offically an outlaw- and decide to disguise yourself better once you arrive to the neighboring kingdom. However- there is another option. You can always hijack the carriage, and ride far away from both kingdoms, hopefully safely avoiding the war until it is safe to come home. Which will it be? Section E for staying on the carriage, Section F if wanting to hijack.
Section C
You find yourself in hooded armor, thrown into a rickety carriage to the Light Kingdom- your quest, to kidnap a citizen. This should be easy, they are always very loud. Smirking to herself, your stomach churns- you made a great decision. The carriage comes to a stop, at the home of an unknowing citizen. Your fellow bandits give you a choice- do you wish to stay and guard, or go inside? Go to section G for guarding, section H for going in.
Section D
Unlike the bandits, being a knight requires fighting training. You pull on your armor, and step into the training room. You are ready- happy you made this decision. Guarding takes superior skill- in different fields. You are given an option: to use armor built for going fast, or armor built for being strong. Section I for speed, J for strength.
Section E
You huddle quietly inside the carriage, packages surrounding you. You restfully fall asleep, at peace with the decision you made. However, a rustle is heard from the front of the carriage- the driver! They turn and look at you, with sinister eyes. You panic- looks like you would have to go with your original plan, to hijack the carriage. Please procceed to section K.
Section F
You stealthily draw out a plan, and decide to rest up so you can put it in motion- you have a whole 4 days until you are even in the right vicinity of the light kingdom. Butterflies invade your stomach.. are you sure you made the right decision? Please go to section K.
Section G
You sit inside the carriage, laying low. Suddenly, a crash is heard from the house. You quickly sit up and go in. Please go to section H.
Section H
You wander in, being careful not to step on anything. Your teammates were at the end of the hallway, whispering. You decide to creep into the living room, where loud breathing is heard. Sure enough, a young woman was hiding behind the couch, breathing heavily and sweating. You approach her.
"You- you aren't g-gonna hurt m-m-me are y-ou?" She says, shivering in fetal position. You weigh between two options. That's it for now! Stay tuned for updates.
Section I
You pull on the dark, golden armor, red jewels occasionally making an appearance. A cape flies behind you. You are ready. That's it for now! Stay tuned for updates.
Section J
Heavy, black, obsideon armor weighs down your shoulders. You feel off balance. However, you quickly regain strength and grab a large, heavy red sword. You felt stronger already. Thats it... for now! Stay tuned!
Section K
Your heart is pounding. Without hesitation, you pounce at the driver, your palms sweaty. You climb onto a midnight black horse, untying its reins. You shove the driver out of the way as you mount the horse. You steer it away- you steer her away. Your hair flying behind you, you gallop out of the village, still panicing. You barely know how to ride a horse. Citizens stare at you, their pale, icy skin not matching yours. You have to get out of here- and fast.
