Right, well I'm sure most of you are wondering how Arthur had a little sister when his mother died before he opened his eyes, well here is what happened....
Queen Igraine had just delivered two beautiful babies, a son and heir to the kingdom and a little princess. She was over joyed, as was the king, Uther. They named their son Arthur and their daughter Anthea. However moments after their birth Igraine died suddenly. Uther knew this was becuase of the magic used to conceive the children, he had his guards capture the sorceress who had helped him. "you did this! You did this to Igraine!" Uther bellowed at the young woman.
"You knew the price, a life for a life!" Nimueh replied angrily. This stopped Uther for a moment. He had two children but only one person died.
"You're lying. Only one person died in this castle tonight and that was my wife!" he shouted. Nimueh looked down sadly.
"I see you haven't spoken with your sister recently. I belive a messenger is on its ways to give you the message of her passing." Nimueh said solemnly.
"You. You have destroyed Camelot with you wicked power! From this moment on I shall do everything within my power to hunt and kill anyone who possesses magic!" Uther proclaimed.
"Then I shall cast a spell not even you can break Uther! The next time you go to your children you will find one will not wake up, but l sleeping for eterninty. There is one way to break this curse but you shall have to work that out yourself" and with that Nimueh vanished into thin air. That night Uther entered the royal nursery, in there his infant son was awake and alert while his daughter was soundly sleeping.
He called the court physician Gaius to look at her. "I am sorry sire but this magic is dark and uncertain, only Nimueh can unbreak this" he told the king.
So Uther had the child locked away, he didn't know what else to do and he would never tell his son, it would be far too complicated.
eighteen years later.....
It was the eve of Prince Arthur's 18th Birthday, he had been fooling around in the library, when he stumbled upon a birth certificate, with a name unfirmiliar to him, this struck him as odd as only royal birth certificates were held in the Library. He decided to ask his father, stuffing the certificate his pocket. Later that day at dinner he pulled out the document, while sat next to his father. "What have you got there Arthur?" Uther asked.
"Well, I've been meaning to ask you, who the hell is Anthea Pendragon?" Arthur demanded, wanting to know who shared his name and date of birth, as well as parents. Before Uther could reply a shrill cry could be heard throughout the castle. Father and son ran to the source of the noise to find an old maid there, one who had once cared for Arthur as a baby. "My Lord, your daughter, the little princess is awake!" she smiled as she held the whimpering infant.
It turned out that Nimueh made the curse break when the babys names was said by her brother, hoping that Uther would never tell him of her, she was right but she never expected Arthur to be quite so enquizative.
