BIOLOGY
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
The Denarian race is humanoid and has roughly the same body system as the human race. They have opposable thumbs and lack tails. They are sexually dimorphic (though less so than humans), and like humans are bipedal. Childbirth is extremely dangerous for Denarian females due to their large head size and narrower hip width and they become fertile later than humans, around the age of eighteen to twenty. They also lose their fertility sooner in life than human beings. They are by far the most advanced race on their planet, with most of the other species being comperably very basic. They have less body hair than humans, being mostly hairless aside from the hair on their heads, and that is also sometimes not found, particularly among males. They have a second, clear lens over their eyes as a result of the large numbers of dust storms on their planet and have four colour-receptive cones which allows them to see another few colour types, but they have worse night vision than human beings. The average height of a Denarian male is approximately 158 cm (5'2), and females are approximately 155 cm (5'1). They are generally lighter in build than humans.
LIFE CYCLE
Their pregnancy is shorter than a humans's, lasting about seven months. The development of a Denarian fetus is very similar to that of a humans. Denarian childbirth is even more dangerous than that of a human's, and natural birth has become extremely rare, and most babies are delivered via cesarian section, with it becoming almost taboo to deliver a baby via natural birth. The infants are typically three kilograms and forty to fifty centimetres in length. DIET
Like humans, they are omnivores, but they are mostly carnivorous in comparison to humans. They can survive longer than humans without food, around three to nine weeks depending on stored body fat. They can last slightly longer without water, but only around four, potentially five days.
RACIAL VARIATION AND APPERANCE
Their height is determined by childhood conditions (such as diet), but also simple genetics. They all have small builds, but they are slightly stockier in cold regions and thinner in the south. Their teeth are sharper than a human's, with almost all of them being slightly pointed.
Their skin can be almost any colour, though red, orange and ( )own are the most common among the central races, but blue, black and violet are often seen. Skin is much paler towards the north, with skin being white with paler undertones (blue, purple, green and pink being the most common). Their hair can be any colour, but is often different from their skin. In the south, it's mostly close to black with faint undertones of colour, and in the north it tends to white with undertones of other shades. Fancy, ( )aided hairstyles are common [for more info, see 'Denarian Culture'], but hair is often shaved among men and sometimes covered among women. Among the south, hair tends to silver with age, and in the north hair becomes almost completely white. They have much less body hair than humans, and males tend to lack facial hair.
Their irises are a solid colour, most often black but they sometimes have undertones of other colours (sometimes they are artificially dyed). They have a second, clear eyelid due to the large number of dust storms and snow storms that take place on their planet
There is less distinction between the sexes than among humans. On average, male Denarians are roughly 7% heavier and only roughly 5 centimetres taller, and muscle mass is very similar. Female Denarians have less natural body fat than human females and they generally have flatter chests and slightly narrower hips. Denarian females also have slightly deeper voices than human females, and Denarian males have higher voices than human males. Like humans, they are monogamous and polygamy is extremely taboo, as is incest.
GENETICS AND OTHER INFORMATION
Their genetic structure is quite similar to that of a humans, being a diploid eukaryotic species. They have 32 chromosomes, and they have an ZW sex-determination system, which means it is essentially the reverse of a humans: female Denarians will be heterogametic (ZW) and males will be homogametic (ZZ). Female Denarians only go through their menstrual cycle once a year, resulting in a slightly lower birth rate. They are able to reproduce artificially with humans, but are naturally incapable of reproducing.
PSYCHOLOGY
SLEEP
They are diurnal and need less sleep than humans since their day is on a 20-hour schedule, needing about 5-8 hours. However, sleep deprivation is much harder on the Denarian mind. Unlike humans, most Denarians are in fact unable to dream, and those who are able to dream were once thought to be psychics.
EMOTION
Their ( )ains are in some ways more advanced emotionally than those of humans. They can in fact feel some emotions that humans do not, and feelings are encouraged among young Denarians. They feel more strongly than humans and tend to care more deeply. Most higher ranking nobles and people above the age of ten are taught how to feel emotion less strongly and can conceal their emotions very well. This is less important among lower-ranking classes, and children are generally taught to be honest with their feelings while not letting them control them, as this is seen as negative.
LOVE
Denarians have views on love that are considered strange by many humans. It is often considered a negative emotion: they believe that a person should care for other beings, but not let their feelings for others bind them to the world and prevent them from going on living.
BEHAVIOUR AND SOCIETY
LANGUAGE
There are two languages found on their planet, known as Demiyara and Ktemrn. Demiyara is spoken more widely and was traditionally the language in the south, though it is now the official language of the planet, and Ktemrn is rarely used anywhere except the north, and even then very few young Denarians can speak the language.
GENDER ROLES
Gender roles are less prevalent in their society than human society, due to it being heavily elder-based. Women are traditionally the masters of the household in every sense, including commanding the money of the household, while men mainly handle the duties outside of the household.

WAR
The Denarian race is extremely unusual in their visions of war and struggles, as there was only ever two countries in the whole of Denaria, and there have been next to no wars. Most have been little more than scuffles between villages, so when they met humanity with their never-ending list of wars, they were confused by their warlike mindset. In comparison, the human race is a violent warrior race, and the first official war took place when they discovered humanity.

RELIGION
There are two religions practiced on their planet. As with most of their culture’s quirks, one religion is practiced more so in the north and one in the south. The two are very similar, with the one in the north is more widely practiced but the one in the south being more extremist.

CASTE SYSTEM
They have a complex caste system in both the north and south of Denaria. There are five castes found within their society. The castes have the same names in both cultures, but the styles of dress are often quite different. The first caste is known as Tsrinya [zuh-rin-ya] [literal translation 'high born']. It contains members of the royal family and very high ranking nobles. It is very prestigious and difficult to enter for anyone lower than the second highest caste [Cheyrov]. There are three sub-levels within the ranking, tsrin [zuh-rin], tsrya [zuhr-ya] and tsrinyarov [zuh-rin-ya-rov], with tsrin being the lowest and tsrinyarov being the highest. The style of dress is highly dependent on the ( )anch of the family, but never appears in black, white or ( )own in either northern or southern communities. In the south, the garments are usually ( )ightly coloured, with elaborate stitching and patterns. The female garments look somewhat comperable to the sari found on earth, but tend to be less elaborately folded and more flowing. Scarves, ribbons and other wrappings are common, especially around the arms, legs and torso. Men tend to have slightly simpler garments, though they also have a very flowing, smooth look and are often slightly less garish. Shoes tend to be simple sandals or simply bare feet to show that they are rich enough to rarely leave the home and have no need of shoes. Females usually have long hair worn in complex ( )aids, often allowing smaller portions of hair to hang down the back. When men can grow hair they often leave it fairly short and never have facial hair as it as seen as unhygenic. In the north, the colours tend to be more subdued and there is generally a more layered look to the clothing. The fa( )ics tend to be heavier and warmer, and there are fewer decorative inclusions in style of dress. Shoes tend to be simple boots. Tattoos among the highest castes are usually fairly elaborate in pattern and are found around the eyes and on arms, legs and chests. The second highest caste, Cheyrov, contains lower ranking nobles, priests and scholars. The sub-classes are Chevya [nobles], Chetka [scholars] and Cheltkov [priests]. The styles are very different between the sub-classes and the varients in the Cheltkov sub-class is extreme due to the religious differences between north and south. In the Chevya class, the styles are very similar to those in the Tsrinya caste albit much simpler in design. They are often less complex and layered, with fewer colours and ribbons, though are still quite elaborate and usually quite fancy. Towards the north, there are many more layers and darker colours. Fa( )ics are also less silky and heavier velvets and other thick materials are usually used in clothes making. Shows are always sandals, while in the north they are generally more practical shoes since more walking is done and there is more snow there. <( ) />
