Operation: Pheonixgear
Chapter 1: Welcome to Finkwhistle!
"Welcome! Welcome ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls to the wonderful city of Finkwhistle! It's Monday 16th July 1881, and boy is it busy tonight! I'm your host Mr. Jimmy Lithium, and tonight let's check out the highlights! Oh, my, what's this I see? A party at the Oil and Gear Nightclub of course, the party's bursting out of the schemes! And, look! It's the one and only Professor Copper Ryans, a true celebrity of the city. The crowds are going insane! I can tell it's gonna be a blast ton-"
Eden turned off her little radio and looked out the window of the train; not many people were on it and she could only see a vast ocean. She looked down at a book on her lap as the moon shone on it, Eden herself was actually quite relieved to be here; taking a break from the hard work she'd been doing, for perhaps two weeks. Her boss called her to this city, it would be her new home he said, and the folks were friendly.
"Aye, who might ye be?" An old man asked Eden as the train stopped at its first station.
Eden cleared her throat, and stood up "They call me Eden Pheonixgear, is that a problem?" She replied, looking a bit puzzled; the man chuckled and put his hat on the seat next to him.
"Of course not, lass! So, where are you going?"
"I'm off to Finkwhistle City, my boss is calling me there for some odd reason..."
"Finkwhisle? Never 'erd of it!" And after a second, the man picked up his top hat and left through the door on Eden's left.
Eden was alone again after that short banter with the man, the train started up and was soon on the go. It chanelled the hills, the mountains and the countrysides, through underwater tunnels that stretched across the seas of Arrowing. Now what's Arrowing may you ask? It's this world of course! These countries are possibly most famous in technology and airships (Welcome to the Steampunk era, dear reader)
Our protagonist let a few more hours drift by, which she spent reading volume sixty three of Technology Tuesdays, even though it was Monday. She heard the engine of the train screech, signifying she was finally here! Eden was relieved, her heart was racing with excitement! She leapt out of the train and took her first few steps into the city, the golden light shone down on her, the radio was bursting through the streets with the latest news. She listened.
"Ah, look here! The market is bustling! Here you'll find the ripest fruits, the finest fish and the best protection agency; the one and only SPA, or the Scarlett Protection Agency if you want to call it that!"
The SPA was what Eden worked for, she was a spy who often went after the most notorious crinimals in Arrowing, and was mostly successful. |
