I’m part of his twisted game. I’ve ended up in Paris, searching for my friend, taken by who-the-hell-knows. I’ve completed most of the riddles he laid out, and was on a search for the last. I find myself in my hotel room, and I turn the knob and step out. “No clue,” I think, walking down the hall to the stairwell. “À l'étage,” meaning “up” in French, was underlined in black ink. The same ink that wrote each clue I found. “If I want Sarah back, I’ll have to go where he wants me to go,” I sigh. I stomp up the stairs, force the door to the roof open, and go out into the rain and lightning to look for the last clue. A flying note smacks into my face, as if planned. “Negatives attract positives…?” of course, matching our personalities. That stalker. Then I realize, “The clue is related to energy! Sarah must be near the circuit box!” I run to it, and my heart jumps to my throat. Lying by the circuit box is Sarah. The note on her chest, written in black ink, says, “ I never said you’d find her alive, did I?”
