Mahou Mirai- The World Left Behind
They say that the world ended. They say that the weight of humanity’s sins was too great a burden for the world to bear and so, it died. Two great heroes rose from the ashes of this end of an era and stood against the final death throes of the Earth. To save humanity, and what little of the world that was not consumed by the Flames of Destruction the two heroes transformed into gods. The God of Light and the God of Darkness. The God of Darkness, in order to protect the remains of the world from endless corruption, created a great wall which to cross became the greatest of sins. The God of Light protected the humans, blessed the land and provided for them, creating a barrier to contain the destruction. And for years, the gods remained. Kagekami and Nozukami protect the people. And in turn, the people protect the gods.
But years have passed and Kagekami has been lost to the Flames of Destruction and now, great demons have overrun the sacred barrier world created by Nozukami. To save the humans, people of pure souls are chosen by Nozukami to fight these monsters. Over time, these new heroes, these Mirai became supported by an organisation of priests devoted to the God of Light known as the Seiiki. These Seiiki believed they were all blessed by the Nozukami, and would do anything in their god's name. Including sacrificing those pure of soul.
The closer one comes to Nozukami, the purer their souls and body becomes. Thus, these people become the most powerful of the Mirai and perhaps may even become a Master, the closest to Nozukami one can be. Now, in the current days the Seiiki have discovered something horrible.
The God of Light, Nozukami, one of the original Mirai heroes is dying.
Now the Mirai must compete with each other to become Masters and perhaps, become the next gods. There is something the Seiiki are hiding and their dying god is not going down until all secrets are laid bare.
Important Terms
The Seiiki- The Seiiki are at heart a priesthood who follow the teachings of Nozukami and above all, believe in the purity of body and soul. They typically perform purification through the washing of the body in pure spring water or water blessed by a priest. The more influence one has with the Seiiki the richer the family becomes. This money is used to procure offerings to give to Nozukami or are used to pay for longer and more intricate purification ceremonies in hopes that they may become closer to god.. Families who have a living Mirai or have had Mirai in their family are given special privileges, such as free services and more money. Lots of money.
Saisho- the leaders of temples. Often these people are politicians or people of high social standing and are considered the purest of body and soul under the Miko and Mirai. They lead the rest of the Seiiki and are said to be able to see through the God's barrier like the Mirai can. It is this power that marks them as pure of soul. If these people are pure of body and nature is yet to be seen.
Ni-banme- the second in command of the temples. Typically, these people support the Saisho and take care of the temple while their leader takes care of the people. They are responsible for running the more mundane aspects of the temple.
San-ban- these people (while their rank is third) are many. They work under the Ni-banme and Saisho either helping with humane efforts or cleaning and taking care of the temples. This is the basic rank for a priest.
Miko- while this term is typically used for 'Shrine Maidens' anyone pure enough and still in their youth may be a Miko for the Seiiki. These youths are considered some of the most pure of soul and body and are thus, treated with great respect. These people are usually given to the Seiiki at birth. It is said that these youths can hear the voice of Nozukami and a good Saisho will take care of their Miko lest invoke the wrath of the God. Some Miko are chosen to become Mirai and in some cases, perform both duties at once.
Mirai- the miracle heroes. Champions of the God. These people are responsible for fighting for Nozukami and protecting the whole world from danger. They can see through the barrier created by God and may fight in his holy ground to protect him. Mirai are always young, never over 18 years of age. The more a Mirai fights, the purer their body and soul become as they become closer and closer to Nozukami. These Mirai may use their ultimate power to increase their abilities for a short time but at a great cost; they must lose one of their bodily functions each time it is used. The function lost is completely random and usually a Mirai can live their normal life without it. Once a Mirai has used this power at least once, they are unable to die and the only way to be cured of their ills is to use their power over and over again until their body is completely wrecked. If they do this 30 times, their body is remade by Nozukami and they become a Master...
Master- the highest rank a Mirai may become. A Master is a “Child of Nozukami” and is considered ‘one’ with the god. It is said they can hear and feel and see what Nozukami does. If a Master returns to the world, they eventually vanish, to go beyond the barrier and to never return. They are chosen by the god’s and must obey their wishes and that wish, is to keep Nozukami alive
Ritual of Flames- when Nozukami's wrath is awakened, the purest of the Miko (or sometimes a Mirai who has fallen short of Masterhood) is sacrificed to the world outside of Kagekami's wall. Their soul is completely bathed in flame and given as the most sacred of offerings to Nozukami to abate his anger. In doing this, the person is considered a Master as they become ‘one’ with the gods.
Gisei- these are the purest form of Mirai before they become Masters, those who have taken God's fury onto their bodies and have been given the highest of all blessings. They are acknowledged by Kagekami. It is the duty of the Gisei to suffer for their God and to eventually join with him. This is one of the two ways one may become a Master. The term Gisei is sometimes used to refer to Mirai who have died before using their special power or those who failed to reach Masterhood through use of their special power and have thus, been left ruined.
Guardians- Once a Mirai achives their ultimate form and becomes effectively semi-immortal, they are given a guardian spirit which takes the form of a small, cute animal that may or may not look like a plush toy.

You have been chosen. You are a Mirai. This world is going to end soon and it is your job to fight for Nozukami and protect the world and perhaps, become a Master and join Nozukami himself as a God! But, something strange has happened with the last Mirai team who fought the demons from beyond the wall. It's up to you and your classmates to figure out what is going on and save the world!
