First of all, yes I know that I still haven't put everyone's backstory up yet, and secondly, no, once I do make a story for Syra (I forgot about her XP), I won't add her culture to this page (all it takes to find out about it is about three minutes of research. NOT. HARD.)
Anyhow, let me tell you how this is going to be set up. I will do one section for each culture, and I will tell you what story they are all from (in regards to the story Kia is from, I'll use the english translation, 'Test of the Hare', because I can't physicaly type the real title or paste anything).
{{Side note: not all of the stories and character will have there own doll, so you might not know who they are.
{{2x side note: they are in order of genre, then alpabetical
{{3x side note: If this freaks out again, any place you see ( ) is supost to be the combo of the letters B and R, like B-R-O-W-N
Now then, a few ground rules for anyone who gets inspired by these and wants to make there own OC doll (which I will let you do, but I'd prefer that you leave anything marked by an * alone):
- Please try to let me know before hand
- Keep true to what I wrote
- Give me credit somehow and never claim that you came up for them on your own
- Don't expect to have them actually end up in the story
Key:

Mystery--
Kepulauans, Mirror:
Live in: Kepulauan islands (fic. kingdom)
(Can) look like: (S) dark to light tan, (E) light ( )own, blues, hazel, grey, rarely violet, green or red, (H) ( )own, blonde, rarely red or strawberry blonde, though dyes are often used to get non-natural colors, (HS) just about anything you can think of for both genders, though women tend to keep their hair mostly down, (FF) long skirts or dresses for the "respectable" women (in other words, not like Macaw), never strapless but any kind of sleeve can be seen, sometimes with sheer layers around or over their regular clothes, everyone wears pearls (only the wealthy wear metal because it has to be imported), (FM) thin cotton shirts, often em( )oidered with sea shells around the neck, sleeves, or bottom, (C) RAINBOW!!! (though it is worth noteing that some dyes are far more costly than others: ( )owns, whites, and dusty roses are the cheapest, yellows, electric blues, aquas, and violets are the most expencive)
Beliefs: (W) your standard rich people stuff... well, the king is a bit cruel and thinks his blood line (though not Rebecca... she has been dead to him since she got involved James...) is above all others, but that's expected..., (N) calm and welcoming people, even if they are rebels. They just love everybody :3 (O) Street girls tend to be wary of "respectable" women and their families, as well as most outsiders, and are just worried about staying alive
Names: Wealthy people tend to choose sofisticated names like "Elizabeth" or "Alexander", normal people can have 'normal' names like "Logan" or "May" as well as words from the malay language because once again, they came out sounding really cool, and street girls tend to have rather exotic-sounding names, like Macaw and her friends do.
Religion: As a major cross road, you can find just about anything. The traditions that began there are rarely used as full on religions. Small details of it are still widely in use, such as the Festival of Purity in the fall and the Festival of Lights in the spring, and the death traditions. When a person dies, their next of kin cuts off most of their hair, and then the body is cremated. The ashes are stored in tall urn like vessels- the taller and more decorated, the more expencive- and have small boxes where loved ones can insert messages next to them. In addition, the royal family consults an orical to paint a "death prophetcy", which is said to predict all events to come before the next royal death-- a detail which is very imortant in Mirror.
Historical Mystery--
Citizens of the (fic.) town of Broken Wheels (?), California (?), Silver Bullet:
Live in: small fictional town, criteria 1850, 60, or 80 (I can't decide...)
(Can) look like: well, this is a no ( )ainer... your basic period clothes, nice and simple for the most part, though Estelle dresses in fine clothes, and Kathryn makes some fancy stuff in her dress shop. It should also be noted that some people prefere to dress in certain colors (like Silver dresses in blues and greys, Aria likes orange and yellow...)
Beliefs: (A) christians for the most part, everyone tends to be close-knit and friendly, and willing to help out other townsfolk when they need it
Other: a lot of people pass through Broken Wheels, and some of them are criminals. Silver Mae Cox, the main character, helps her father (or rather, he helps her), the town lawkeeper (haven't decided just what he should be yet...), track them down, and has a particularly good way with solving murders. Some other important characters in town include the inn keepers, the dress maker, a young rich girl about Silver's age (18-ish?), and Silver's horse (yes, he's very important, and she's very fond of that horse...)
Suspenceful fantasy--
Celestian, Far Away:
Live in: Celestia
(Can) look like: (S) very light to medium tan, (E) blue, violet, rarely grey of green, (H) black, dark ( )own, rarely blonde, often has faint streaks of cool colors like blue or purple, which are natural, (HS) kept long for both genders, though men rarely grow theirs beyond shoulder-length and women tend to only let theirs grow about a foot/foot and a half past their shoulders, mostly worn loose, though fancy buns are popular as well, (FF) dresses and skirt-blouse combos, all ways very unusual by our standards, pattens and cutaways are very common, as are beads and drapery, (FM) also very unusual by our standards, but men either have on shirts that cover most of their skin, or go shirtless, (C) only cool colors, and light greys/white.
Beliefs: (A) not very religious, but they are very much so a culture of intlectuals (is that spelled right?). They do, however, have fairy tales that warn their children of the dangers of the ground world though...
Names: generaly have something to do with the air, stars, plants, clouds, and the like
Other: The Celestian Guards are always women, who are the only ones who keep their hair short and are known for their ( )ight, electric blue floral patterned uniforms.
Ignotaque Terran, ~Unnamed story~--
Live in: the village of Ignotaque Terra, which is the northern most village on the mountain
(Can) look like: All human genetics are possible, as this is the village where outsiders/new comers go, they dress warmly, in clothes that are a mixture of outside fashion and the styles of the other two villages.
Beliefs: You name it, they believe in it... They ( )ought their religions and ideas with them when they came.
Names: Whatever they want, you can find it all...
Other: The early Terrans were scientists, explorers, that sort of thing.
Lumi Harian, ~Unnamed story~--
Live in: the village of Lumi Hari, which is the south eastern village of the mountain
(Can) look like: (S) pale or light tan, (E) green, ( )own, blue, violet, grey, rarely red or black, (H) all shades of ( )own, rarely blonde, but is dyed ( )ight unnatral colors when they become twelve years old, (HS) always kept down or tied in a ( )aid for both genders, (FF) em( )oidered leather shirts (these can also be made out of ( )own, undyed wool) with thick white undershirts, long skirts with em( )oidery at the bottom made out of wool, "snow veils" which are thin (but NOT sheer) pieces of fa( )ic which are worn as headdresses that cover either just the back of the hair or the back of the hair and the top of the head depending on the style (the latter is more causual and is worn over fancy headbands which women aren't alowed to show anyone but their family members or high-standing officials), (FM) almost exactly like the culture's women, but they wear pants and don't wear snow veils, (C) mostly greens, blues, and whites, but you can easily find other colors, excluding black, which is rarely used.
Beliefs: They belive in multipule deities (Which I'll happily take sugestions for, if you have any ideas...), but the most important are Lumi (the snow goddess which the village is named for), Jaht (god of deer/other game and hunting), Looja (creator goddess) and Valgus (god of day and the sun). They aren't very fond of Penjagans, but really like the Terrans.
Names: They have traditional names (which in reality are just words from the Estonian language...) untill age twelve, when they are given their "true" name (which tend to be nouns from the english language, which isn't something random-- Lumis loved Terrans so much, they adopted some of the words they ( )ought to the mountain as names).
Other: They love languages! Most Lumis speak several different ones, but tend to rely mostly on english.
Penjagans, ~Unnamed story~--
Live in: Penjaga, which is the mountain's western village
(Can) look like: (S) moderatly pale to medium tan, (E) blue, ( )own, green, grey, rarely violet or red, (H) all shades of blonde, red, and rarely ( )owns (darker tones especially), (HS) loose and VERY neat, never messy, (FF) thin inner v-neck shirts, generaly tank-top styled that sometimes with long, removable sleeves, on top they have a thick coat-ish top (worn over all other layers) that comes in three styles; the Dasar (casual, short, only goes just above their skirt), the Cantik (longer, goes half way down the skirt, one or more cut aways, more formal), and the Resmi (only worn on very special occasions, much longer, goes all the way down the skirt to the floor), short skirts with thick warm pants under them, gloves(FM) thin inner shirts covered with a thicker wool long sleeved one and a loosely fitting coat or a cloak, wool pants, gloves, (C) ( )ighter, more vi( )ant cool colors and warm colors, but never black or grey, though dark blues are fine.
Beliefs: they belive in one, all ruleing creator goddess named Ibu who guards them with the help of her wolf companion, Penjaga (whom the village is named for). They don't particularly like Lumis, and aren't too fond of Terrans, but they are friendly enough with the other two villages.
Names: Like the Lumis, they have taken things from the outside world to use as names. Penjagans enjoy useing 'normal' names like "Ann" or "William", but they also tend to give their childeren names of places or important events in the history of the outside world.
Other: Women are required to wear blue make-up on their eyes and compleatly covering their lips at all times, and men must at least have a streak of blue running down the center of their lips. Also, like Lumis, they dye their hair, but only the tips. Penjagans were the ones who came up with, and funded the creation of, the Peace Garden, which takes up the area in the middle between the three villages.
Historical drama--
At last my final one! I'm going to do this one a little differently than the others...
* This is my most precious story line, one that is very close to my heart. I'm not going to go into details, but let me just tell you a bit about the various groups that reside in the (main) setting:
-First and most importantly, you've got those who want war, like the vast majority of the important characters. Over all, they are a feisty bunch, usualy hot headed and with sharp tongues, though some are a bit more refined (like the main character).
-Secondly you've got those who don't want war at all, and shun anyone who does (which is why the main character of the story is labeled as a "trouble maker" even though he really doesn't cause a lot of problems). They either like the way things are, or just think that going to war with their government over a few "petty things" is a really stupid idea.
Both of those catagories have people from two different cultures in them, the people who were there before and the new settlers. I'm not going to go into detail about them because if you've already caught on to what the setting is, you should know; if not, then it's better for me if you don't know all that much about it.
It's not that I don't like you or don't trust you, it's just that this story is very important to me, and I don't want someone who knew nothing about this era before to go off and do a bit of research and get inspired to do the EXACT samething that I'm doing. Is it unlikely? Yes, but it very well could happen, and this story is my baby! I'm sorry if that disapoints you, I really am... I love talking about this story, but I just can't ( )ing myself to give you all the details (and let me tell you, you really are missing a lot of what makes this story special).
And that's it! I may keep adding things like new sections sometimes, so do check back when you have the time. I hope you enjoyed this ;) |
