Description:

In his elven form average height, but in this form he isn't strong enough to be a fighter. He has red-blonde hair and green eyes. In his shapeshifter-form he has dark blue skin, partly covered with black scales, long claws at his hands, white eyes and dark red hair (which is uncommon for shapeshifters and is inherited from his father). He also has, like all shapeshifters, a strong, muscular tail that can be also used as a weapon. In this form he's an excellent and swift fighter. Later, his main shape changed a little bit - he lost his tail and got wings which he can make disappear.

Adair is a teacher as well as a student at the Night Watchers Academy. He is a specialist for knowledge of shapeshifters who studied them and also learned very much from the books of his elven father. He's also studying in Morituri's magical classes and learns to improve fighting in his shapeshifter-form from Angus and Ricky. He also improves his knowledge in different languages which he began to learn as a kid from his adoptive father.

Adairs father Gareth de'Khell was a wood elf, his mother Faelaiah was a shapeshifter. He inherited the ability to shift from her, and magical abilities from his father. His main form is his shapeshifter-form. He developed his elven form quite early, and he never changed it later. He can hold a strange form at the utmost 10-12 hours, then he needs to shift back for some hours for it is exhausting to shift for so long time. Shapeshifter-kids don't have the ability to shift from the beginning; it developes in the age of 4-5 years when they copy animals they see. They live in the woods, in small family-groups of 8-10 individuals. The colour of their skin can differ - dark blue, dark purple, dark brown, black.

His mother was, unlike other shapeshifters, always curious of other species and loved to watch them. So it happened that she was wounded and almost caught by humans. A young elven man, who was a researcher, found her and helped her, and they fell in love. She left her family and lived with him. For this reason, her species she was an outcast. When Adair was 10 years of age a shapeshifter-pack sensed her (they can sense each other) and attacked them when they were at an evening walk (they often enjoyed such walks). His parents told him to run away (which he first didn't want, but there was no other choice), and his mother defended her husband til death. The shapeshifters followed the boy, but he was found by headmaster Morituri who helped him and rescued him from his hunters. Morituri adopted him as his son and taught him to handle his magical abilities. He also saved the recordings about shapeshifters which Adairs elven father made. In the academy only the teachers know what he really is; Morituri thought it better to keep it a secret for many people are afraid of shapeshifters. Sometimes he goes on missions - spying out shapeshifters and other potential threats for the academy.

 Personality:

He's friendly and funny, and he loves little pranks, but without being malicious. He's also a little bit vain and loves to wear colorful clothings. His favourite prank is to turn into a sexy woman. He considers the people in the academy as his family. He would do anything to protect them, for he never wants to lose somebody again. There are not very much people whom he dislikes, although there are some people he cannot estimate, which is uncomfortable for him. He also likes flirting with women (but never with the female students) - well, liked to, until he met Elizabeth, which he calls his "Ana'is", which means "Light" in his fathers elven language. He has a reputation as a womanizer, and many people believe this. But in fact it was only 2 times that he was with women - when he came to the age of adulthood; he was 17 and 18 years old. The first time Morituri caught him in the late evening in a barn with a woman when they ... *ahem, well, you know*. XD   

He is passionate in everything he does, so also when somebody threatens his family. Then it can happen that he loses control over his shifting-abilities and his hands and arms shift back into his original form. When he's in fury he doesn't take care of himself. He hates shapeshifters and doesn't hesitate to kill them if it's necessary. He hates when women are harassed, and he never would tolerate such behaviour. He dislikes when somebody is snooping after him. If somebody wants to know something about him he should ask, the he will see if he gets an answer.

Adair likes good books, walking in the near forest, all alone, and he loves to go swimming - he enjoys the feeling of the water and the warm sun, and the cool breeze of the wind on his elven skin. He also loves dozing in a cat's shape on his old armchair before the fireplace, in the livingroom of Morituri's castle.

What he absolutely can't handle is when the teenie girls in his class flirt with him - he doesn't know what to do against it, and all his self-confidence is instantly gone. He's got horror from this situations and would prefer to fight against a pack of shapeshifters ...

 Relationships to other people:

Morituri: His adoptive father - he loves him, although he sometimes causes Morituri some headaches with his temper and his ideas.

Lady Mertillia: He learned to be careful with her ... as a kid he once got ... well, trouble with her. He never forgot it and takes care how to speak to her.

Andres: When he saw him first time, Andres was a little bit scary for him ... meanwhile he knows him better, and he likes him, and he also got accustomed to Andres' ability to read minds. Adair is glad that Andres belongs to the Night Watchers, for bloodbeasts hate shapeshifters, and Adair knows he wouldn't have the slightest chance in a fight against him.

Ricky: Well, Adair's relationship to him was first very difficult ... Adair loves his sister, and Ricky was not very amused of this. He likes Ricky, and he would want to be his friend, but because Ricky hates every man who goes near his little sister. But later, after a certain event, they got better with each other, and they even became friends again.

Angus: He loves Angus like a brother; they have very much in common. Angus was his first friend when Adair came to the academy. Once Angus wanted to teach him fighting with weapons, but ... hopeless - Adair cannot handle even the smallest dagger without painful concequences for himself or for others. Some people who don't know of his shapeshifter-abilities consider Adair a weakling. When he fights, he fights in other shapes - mostly as a big bird of prey. His best weapons are his claws and his swiftness.

Elizabeth: She's his darling, his "Ana'is", his light ... and he never would tolerate that somebody treats her bad. When she's around him he doesn't think of other things. But sweet-talking with her is hard - Ricky always knows it when they want to sneak away!

Francesco: Adair stays out of his way. As he is Elizabeths brother and very hot-tempered it's better to do so ...

James: He likes him because of his sense of humour, but Adair is also a little bit worried about him because of James' liking to get himself into dangerous situations. Then he would love to give him a good shaking to get those ideas out of him.

Amaranth: He likes the healer very much. Adair brings him herbs and plants if he need some, when he goes on his walks. And - Adair is one of the few men who likes it when Amaranth makes a flower crown for him. Adair is very thankful to have somebody - besides Morituri - whom he can talk with when he has sorrows. Well, and Adair is really very sorry when Amaranth must be dragged out of his bed at night for him when he comes back wounded from a mission!

Neolesaaz: He once met her on a walk in the forest - she seems interesting to him, and he saw that she is used to fight. He's curious of her and would like to get to know to her - but he isn't sure how to do so, for she's rather reserved and distrustful.

Santiago: Adair doesn't like him, and he knows Santiago considers him to be a weakling. Adair doesn't care about this, but nevertheless he is afraid of him, especially when Santioago comes close to him - what has it's reason in an event from one year ago. At a quarrel with him, Santiago pushed him very hard against a wall, and Adair banged against the projection of this wall in height of his neck. He could have killed Adair with this, because of Adair's weak spot - which is his neck. Shapeshifter have very flexible and not as consolidated spines as humans have, but he is half an elf, so he has their lighter bones, which makes his spine more vulnerable when he is in his elven shape. (That's one reason why Adair avoids to fight in his elven shape.) When in his real shape it's no problem; his scales protect his spine. But as an elf... a hit against his neck can kill him. Only Amaranth and Morituri know about this weak spot.        

Anecdotes and facts:

- He once pranked Ricky with shifting into a girl he had a crush on - and Ricky kissed him. Ricky wasn't very pleased when he found out afterwards ...

- The first time when he came to Morituri, Adair only slept in his big armchair at the fireplace.

- He loves to doze in this armchair before the fireplace, in his cat shape, feeling the warmth of the fire. It reminds him of his childhood for in their little hut he always slept before the fireplace on a fur.

- He loves sweets and chocolate and can't get enough of them - even when he gets an upset stomach afterwards.

- He likes animals and dislikes hunting without necessity of eating. He never would go on a hunt just for fun.

- Adair indeed once called Lady Mertillia a "bad grandma".

- As a kid he got into a quarrel between Lady Mertillia and Lady Lhoris - he wanted to sooth and reconcile them - and of course got into the crossfire.

- When he shifts into another form he uses his magical abilities to let his clothes disappear and later reappear - for if he wouldn't, after shifting back into an elf he of course would be naked.

- Adair has pets. There is a horse, a mare, whose name is Giggles. When he came to the academy, she was the only horse that wasn't afraid of him but curiously went up to him. She's his friend, and she's about 20 years old now. He loves to go out for a walk with her, but meanwhile he doesn't go too far with her because more and more shapeshifters were sighted at this area of the island.

Then there is Pixie, a little dragon who belonged to a spoiled girl who kept her in a little cage ... Adair set her free, and Pixie wanted to stay with him.

- Later he also will have a female griffin named Angeleye, who is a bit bitchy.

- Adair made in his past a big mistake towards Ricky - which is a reason too why Ricky didn't like him. But meanwhile they reconciled and are friends again.
