Kiandra Martínez was a twenty-something, up-and-coming archaelogist with a completely normal life, until the day when she dug into a mysterious patch of ground while alone on a dig - and inadvertantly released a legion of long-imprisoned, terrifingly powerful entities that can possess objects. (For example, if an insectoid entity were to possess a log, you might get a log with wings and mandibles that can cause welts when it bites you.)

Kia was almost killed right then and there by the horrors she'd released; but fortunately, a reptilian Entity with more morality and presence of mind than its peers came to her aid - by taking her body as its vessel, and using their powerful merged form (right) to fight off the creatures. But it turns out they were the least of her problems, as every other Entity she released is still out there, posing a danger to society.

Out of a combination of coercion from her Entity (who is good-aligned, but very far from nice) and her own guilt, Kia became a superhero who fights to keep the world safe from the Entities, all the while studying to figure out a way to eliminate them once and for all. (And trying to keep her sanity, while she's at it.)

How it works

*Kia can transform (thankfully painlessly) from her human form to her hyb.rid form and back at any time; the Entity is still "inside" Kia when she's in human form, able to see and hear everything she does, and to communicate with her telepathically - horrifyingly, Kia can sometimes feel it moving.

*The Entity has full control over the merged form's tail, and most of the control over the reptilian forearms - Kia's normal human arms lose feeling when she's transformed, and basically just swing around precariously in battle; which is why she wears those protective arm guards. The bottoms of the Entity's feet stick out from Kia's, which doesn't grant it any control over her legs, but spares Kia from having to wear shoes when transformed. (Plus, those claws are dangerous.)

*She can produce various kinds of secretions to use as weapons (see her mouth and the tip of her tail), her mainstays being corrosive liquid (which she herself is immune to) and a tranquilizing chemical injectable through the tip of her tail or her claws. She can produce these in human form, too - sometimes without her control. (Kia's superpowers are gross.)

Clothing-wise, she just wears normal athletic clothes instead of any specific "super-suit" (I've depicted her here in a sports b.ra and leggings, plus the all-important arm guards); but those scale-print leggings are sort of her trademark. No mask is required - if she needs to hide her identity, the entity can materialize some scales on her face.
