Almost all the races that inhabit Arianoch were created by the Master with the help of the four Elemental Guardians, with the exception of the Offspring, the Ethereal, and the Corrupt, who are the product of interracial relationships.

Humans:
Humans are the "children" of Tressa, Guardian representing the element of earth. They make up Arianoch's lower and middle classes, with only a few families in the upper class. Most work in a trade of some sort, and their last names reflect whatever line of work they do.
Human clothing is practical, with even formal dress being simple. Of course, the style depends on where they live. Their appearance also varies greatly, although all but their eyes are strictly neutral, earthy colors. (Eye colors not possible for pureblooded humans to have are red, purple, and teal.)
Major human cities include Bear's Keep and Greyglen, both located in the north. Humans name their towns in the common tongue, because most don't know any other language. Towns are named after key features and geographical landmarks.
Humans can be trained to use magic, but most never discover the magic within them. They don't have as much of an ability as the elves do, but still can become very powerful. Most human mages opt to study shifting or general magic.
Humans have the second strongest bonds with their Guardians, usually getting a lock of their hair changed to match their Guardian's color and dressing in the color as well. Guardians speak of humans as "strong, relationship-oriented people, their families like packs of wolves."
Another notable thing about humans is that they aren't very open-minded. Anything abnormal is scary to them.

Elves:
Elves are the creation of Ilia, the Guardian of air. They are the upper class of Arianoch, although some are in the upper half of the middle class. Magically endowed, they are normally healers, mages, priests, and nobles. Their last name reflects where their family came from.
Elves adore gemstones and sleek silhouettes. Skirts with knee-high slits are a common feature, and sleeves are often deemed unneccessary. (Except for northern elves, of course.) The richer an elf is, the more gems and beading will decorate their clothing. The extremely rich have very top-heavy outfits, and have metal supports inside their shirt or bodice to keep them from falling down.
Elvish skin tones range from nearly snow white to almost pitch black. Hair, which can be any natural color, is often dyed to an om( )e, which usually matches their favorite gemstone(s). Pureblooded elf eyes are purple or teal, even both, as some elves have heterochromia. Ears are gracefully slanted and are always pointed, although the degree of pointiness varies.
The biggest and most ( )eathtaking elven city is Nakitasu, meaning beautiful pride. Elvish cities are named in Saniesheza. Saniesheza, or graceful words, is the language spoken in all elvish cities, as most elves hate the sound of the common tongue.
Magic is the most common in elves. Most elves learn healing, general magic, or alchemy. General mages are hired as bodyguards and soldiers.
Elvish names are always made by combining words in Saniesheza, and sound is more important than meaning. (Although they do love flaunting their meanings as well.) Many elves who join the Enlightened will change their name to something more meaningful. Elves use their name meanings as their last names, Moon Moon style.
Guardians aren't as important to elves as they are to humans and fae. Elves see themselves as self-reliable, with no need for a higher being to watch over them. Guardians have described elves as "flippant, vain creatures that manage to be both incredibly wise and ridiculously stupid at the same time."

Fae:
Fae were ( )ought into being by Calypsi, and little is known about their society. There are many different kinds of these tiny creatures, including wisps, fairies, and pixies.
Wisps:
Wisps are the smallest type of fae, and have no apparent gender. They are usually percieved as little balls of light, and are often mistaken for fireflies.
Fairies:
Fairies are the biggest fae, and are elegant as well as playful. They come to the waist of a six-year-old child, and have an elongated appearance. Wings come in many varieties, from dragonfly to butterfly to bumblebee.
Fairy fashion resembles the Regency style of Earth, only fancier and more nature-like. Men's jacket lapels are usually the wings of some kind of insect, and lady fairies love to pin assorted flowers to their dress's bodice.
Pixies:
Pixies are mischievous fae who like to play pranks on unsuspecting tallfolk. They are pale, colorful-skinned creatures who wear jumpsuit-like outfits made out of leaves. (Although nobles wear dresses most of the time.) Their wings are a bit ragged-looking, but work perfectly fine.

Demons:
Little to nothing is known about demons, aside from the facts that they look like something worse than your biggest nightmares and practice the three ( )anches of Dark Magic. They don't care one bit about their Guardians, who, frankly, are too frightened of them to show themselves.
<( ) />
The Offspring:
Rare children of Guardians and humans or elves, the Offspring are a bit like the demigods of greco-roman mythology. They are looked down upon by humans because of the unusual nature of their parents's relationships. Elves treat them like some kind of special snowflake.
The Offspring each have a certain Ability inherited from their parents. It's generally something trivial, like fast-growing hair or abnormally long life, but sometimes it can be a bigger power.
The Offspring look like their non-guardian race. (Unless their Ability has something to do with their appearence.)
The Offspring have the absolute closest bonds with their Guardian, and can see them more often than any other race.
<( ) />
The Ethereal:
The children of elves and humans, the Ethereal are beautiful, magical beings. Elves dislike them because they "defile their families with lower class blood", but humans don't mind them that much. (Although human women are jealous of their looks.)
They look more like their paternal race, and their bond with their Guardian depends on how they were raised. They are very magically talented.

The Corrupt:
The Corrupt are the ultra-rare spawn of any race and a demon. They are pariahs, living alone in the uninhabited wilderness and fighting anyone who comes near.
They aren't as terrifying as their demonic parent, but are still very frightening. Most end up self-teaching themselves a ( )anch of Dark Magic. |
