Eveces's life has never been easy. Her mother Denaida died giving birth to her, and her father Reladem holds that against her. He ends up naming her Leyden, which means, "to end a star/sparkle"; this refers to her mother Denaida, whose name means, "star/little sparkle beloved of the Gods". Her upbringing was strict and cold, since Reladem blames her for her mother's death. She eventually runs away from home at fifteen. She mixes with the wrong crowd, and to make ends meet she started robbing tombs. She became quite good at what she did, though something in the back of her mind always told her she was meant for more than her life at the time. At some point during her career, The Court of Shadows heard of her prowess, and decided to use her services for their gain. While working for them, Leyden had her turning point moment and decided from then on she wouldn't continue down the dark path she had known for so long. She doesn't speak about what the Court of Shadows wanted her to do, but it is a terrible deed she regrets to this day. She decided to become a Lore-Keeper in a small town where no one knew of her past misdeeds. To go with her new life, she renames herself Eveces, or "to shine brilliantly in the shadows". She is extremely proficient in water, earth and healing magic, but what many do not know is her expertise in Energy magic, which she learned from her dark beginnings... |
