A Sleep-walking Bride - A Valentine's Day Special
"There was a horrible car accident!" the news reporter exclaimed. Vivian leaned closer but she probably didn't know anyone in the accident so she wasn't too interested. "It seems a young man was killed in the accident and a teenager and a young child were both badly hurt. The young man was identified as Nicholas Meremoth. The teenager was identified as-" Vivian turned off the TV, throwing remote back on the couch and grabbibg her coat. She ran to her car.
Vivian Sorori. A woman at the age of 23 years. She was engaged to be married to Nicholas Meremoth on the 14th of Fe( )uary. Nicholas died on the 13th of Fe( )uary. For days after the death of her fiance, Vivian lay on her couch. She contemplated many things: the meaning of life. The meaning of death. She was sitting alone in her house one night when a hand ( )ushed against her back. She thought it was a hand, at least. But when she looked behind her...there was nothing there. She walked slowly to her room, nervously looking around her. Nothing's there, Vivian. It was just your imagination. she told herself. Nothing's there. But as she walked into the dark hallway leading to her bedroom, a tall figure wrapped his arms around her. "Vivian..." the figure whispered. "I'm here..."
"Nicholas?!" she yelled, hoping, desperately hoping for a response. The floor opened up and she fell. She saw Nicholas above her, reaching out to her. "Nicholas, help me!" she screamed.
Vivian's eyes opened and she looked around her. She was on a big tarp that was being held up by several men. "Ma'am, why did you jump?" one of the men asked. "What?" she asked. "You jumped off of the building. From the very top." one of the other men told her, pointing up toward a big building. "But...I was just in my house...I was just sleeping...how did I...?"
The next, Vivian woke up outside of the burning remains of her house. The next night she woke up soaking wet. Again and again she had dreams about Nicholas and she would wake up being saved from something horrible. Something that she did to herself. In her sleep.
And then, on the last night of the week, she saw Nicholas again, in another dream. "Nicholas...you're doing this to me, aren't you?" she asked. "I dunno what you're talking about, babe." Nicholas replied, shrugging playfully. "If you keep doing this, there will be a time when no one can save me. I'll die!" Vivian told Nicholas. "Well, wouldn't that be better? Then we could be together!" Nicholas smiled at Vivan. "But..."
"You should just die."
"But...I don't want to die. I don't want to die!"
Vivian woke up in the driver's seat of her, which was speeding toward a parked car. She swerved coming to a slow stop. She sat in her car. "That was supposed to be another accident." she mumbled to herself. "But I stopped it."
"This is what you wanted, isn't it? I won't bother you anymore." a voice whispered quietly to her. She smiled. "Thanks, Nicholas...I won't forget you...I promise..." She sighed and got out of her car.
"I promise."
I-Yamuna-Ora's Backstory:
I-Yamuna-Ora, the good girl. Everything was perfect. The perfect family. Everything was...perfect. But was it really? Was it really perfect? After all...nothing is perfect. Perfect doesn't exist.
She was so little when they destroyed it. Her family died. Her parents...gone. Her brother...maimed. But they didn't touch her. Maybe it was her eyes....two different colors. They always scared everyone off everyone. Or maybe it was her skin...pale as snow. It made her look almost dead. Or maybe...maybe it was the fact that her family had been "perfect" for a thousand years. She had been "so little" for a thousand years.
The lace on her red dress flowed gently around her. No crumbling buildings would hit her. No blood would splatter on her. It was like she had a forcefield around her. A forcefield of fear. A forcefield by her creation; an experimental android called Experimental Designation 130. "Alright, EXD130. Let's go back to the laboratory. There's nothing we can do for them now." I-Yamuna-Ora told the robot. "Affirmative." EXD130 replied. "Locate my brother." Ora told EXD130. "Locating Lucifer...he is in the Underworld." EXD130 replied. "You mean he's dead?" Ora asked. "No. He is in the Underworld." EXD130 replied. Ora stared at the robot. "...I...alright..." Ora looked down. Then, she walked back to her laboratory. She was going to get to the bottom of this.
I-Yamuna-Ora's red shoes clicked on the linoleum floor of her laboratory, Experimental Designation 130 right behind her. "We have to find Lucifer." Ora told EX130. "He has to be around here somewhere. And if he's not dead....then...."
Lucifer opened his eyes. Fire graced his hands and knees. He was kneeling on a hard, rocky ground in a circle of fire. "Where am I?" he asked. You are in your kingdom. the fire spelled out. "My kingdom?" Lucifer asked, standing up and looking around. The fire made a path for him and he followed it through a land of fire to a big castle of red glass. He walked into the castle and sat on a large throne with red, velvet padding. A womanl with blonde hair and cat ears walked up to the throne, purring, "My liege..."
"Who are you?" Lucifer asked the woman. "Darling, it's me! It's mommy!" the woman told Lucifer. "Mom?" Lucifer asked, the news sinking in. He smiled and hugged the woman. "Mom! I'm so happy to see you! It's so weird down here!"
"Oh and it's only going to get weirder, Lucifer." the woman told Lucifer. "It's only going to get weirder...." |
