One afternoon my mother was busy in the kitchen fixing dinner for company. I was in the kitchen doorway with my coloring book of exotic animals. I asked her what color zebras were and, to keep me occupied so I would leave here alone, she told me they were pink and black. Imagine my surprise when I got to kindergarten and discovered they were black and white. Why would anyone put a black and white animal in a coloring book? The wings represent my departing misconceptions. |
