Dracofae (Drakes for short)
-Dracofae are the most ancient Fae in the realms. Their race has existed since before time immemorial, and many surviving Drakes from that time even remember days that there were no Twin Realms, just one huge world where the Seelie and Unseelie barely knew they were different...
-Like Merrow, Drakes also have a humanoid form, but unlike them, Drakes can keep their human forms as long as they wish. It is their dragon forms that come with limits. Dracofae magic is the most powerful magic in the Realms, and as such, it takes a lot of energy to use. There was a time that Drakes were stronger, and those that remain from that ancient time can control both of their forms well. But time and thinning bloodlines have made the later generations less strong and able to hold their dragon forms for long. Even for the ancients though, taking their dragon form isn't typically something they do often. Sometimes while they sleep or when hunting, but by and large, they tend to keep their more human forms.
-Drakes have very deep, rich coloured hair that, when let down, can fall to their feet or even trail behind them many of them tie their hair up in elaborate styles, as dracofae are typically quite vain creatures, and won't stand for their hair being matted or tangled. Hearsay goes that the lovely maiden Rapunzel spoken of in tales was part dracofae.
-They're not evil by nature, but they are very vain and materialistic. They love shiny things for their value and hoard them as one would hear in storybooks. They adore jewelry and accessories and rarely will you see a dracofae in something that is not long, flowing, and impressive.
-Their eyes are usually greens, golds, or blues, but it's not uncommon to find a purple or even red shade in there too.
-Their skin is almost never pale, as dracofae's scales are also always deep, rich jewel tones. The only time that a dracofae is pale is if they have light coloured or white scales, which is very rare. The lightest they go is tanned at best.
-Drakes, being the oldest fae, are also the wisest. Rarely is the logic and wisdom of the dracofae delegates challenged, and if it is, they will most times make the challenger look the fool. It is also unwise to insult a dracofae in any way shape or form...Dragon form or not, they can still breathe fire.
