Rothrayne - The vast world that Lyric has been thrown into
Provinces:
Rakisia – Southern (water, towns and such are either on islands or floating in the air, like Iori)
Chaessu – Northern (the arts province, lush forest)
Iati – Northwestern (The snowy province and also the least populated)
Ener – Southwestern (all things mechanical and technology based and where said things advance the most and first. Lots of cities)
Orilu – Eastern (desert, mostly oasis’ and small towns, but also where one will find the best resorts)
Sondo – Western (meadows and rolling hills. Elderly retire to this quiet province)
Uchae – Southeastern (safari and savannah province, lots of animal sanctuaries and quiet villages)
Lorath – Northeastern (Historical province, mountains dominate)
Rosettin – Central, named for the rosette always in the centre of old compasses, mix of all provinces
Iori – Rakisia province, merchant town and one stop shop for all the provinces in Rothrayne. Also boasts one of the largest sky docks and the only town that does not have a ground counterpart.
Daet – Ancient Palace city in the Lorath province. Highly revered and where one can find the Archives of Rothrayne. Every moment of history is stored there. Students from every corner of the world come here to study. It’s also where one can find hard to find weapons or clothing, in the marketplace. Unreachable by sky, it rests deep in the mountains, thus only the very determined and worthy have seen its grand halls.
Udene – A small city in the Ener province. What it lacks in size, it makes up in power. It’s like a huge power plant and military base that serves as border protection. The country side outside the base is beautiful, however. The huge horns at the base gate can be heard for miles and it means an invasion is coming. The expression ‘Horns of Udene’ that Edwin uses is therefore used when something very bad is happening or has been said or discovered.
Aeristrym – Rosettin province, Castle city and centre of Rothrayne. The royal family lives there. It’s also the biggest merchant centre in Rothrayne. The sky dock, also the largest, is actually located on Ailaeria. One must take a sky bus from there to reach Aeristrym on the ground.
Ailaeria – Rosettin province, sister city to Aeristrym and where all high councils and province governors meet. Once a year, there is a festival in Aeristrym to cele( )ate the history of Rothrayne and afterward, the ceremonies and history readings by the archivists of Daet are held in the great halls of Ailaeria. As the archivists read, there are renactments performed by selected people from the crowd.
Ranesskel – Known far and wide as the Oasis. In the middle of the desert province of Orilu, it is a city that glitters with fountains of the clearest water in Rothrayne. One can also find lovely fruit ices and other cool treats. Only reachable on foot, no sky dock, though one is being planned.
Tyalora – City of Songs, as it is better known in the Chaessu province. Anything to do with music is found here. The best performers come from everywhere to try their luck in talent shows here. Any songs created are sent here and recorded to be added to the music archives in Daet.
Nerendel – The frozen palace at the heart of the Iati province. Many rumours surround it, including that it used to be the royal palace before Aeristrym was built. No one goes there however, because people tend to disappear if they do.
Sidlen – Quiet village in Sondo province, but the largest of all. Here is where one can find the old soldiers and adventurers, regaling their tales for those younger than they.
Kinonia – Largest animal reserve and relocation area in the Uchae province. There are animals of every species taken care of here, so it is also known as ‘The Ark’. Some animals are available for adoption as well, but the process of adoption is very thorough, as the reserve leaders want to be sure the animals go to good homes and are not abused. In some cases, the homes are even monitored for a few months.
Popular occupations in Rothrayne:
Sky Pirate: since the invention of the airship in 2042, Rothrayne's civilization and living has turned from the sea to the sky. But, as before, pirates still terrorize the skies, stealing food and treasure from merchant airships. Most pirates are rebels of the new order, wanted in every province, however there are some who have agreed to privateering in the name of the Empress. They are masters in every weapon, a different one for each person.
Royal Navy: These soldiers are fully loyal to the crown and fight to rid the skies of pirates and rebels. They are skilled with many weapons, though they usually favour blades.
Assassin for hire: A rare occupation since the new order, these mercenaries are always swift and leave no evidence. Their victims seem to die of 'natural causes'. they favour smaller weapons and poisons.
These are the most popular occupations, but of course, there are many positions in the palace guard, farming, work staff, cooking...the list is endless.
ANOTHER BEING
In Rothrayne, there exists an ethereal being known as a Shooting Star. Very beautiful, but extremely cunning and deadly, these creatures hide in the clouds, waiting for their moment to attack unsuspecting airships. They resemble the mermaids and can move blindingly fast. They were once peaceful creatures, but that changed when the people of Rothrayne started hunting them for their everlasting Star Energy. The wisdom of a Shooting Star is unmatched and should one gain their favour, even today, they can and will answer any question put forth to them.
