Girl raised by dragons in a world that hates them.

King of dragons, Syalorakesh (Syalo), angry at the humans for killing his kind, learns the magic of shapeshifting and takes a human form, seducing the human queen into having his child (dragons have that seductive power naturally, they just never use it besides on their own kind). He also teaches this power to his kin, who subsequently go off and cause similar havoc with other races). When the half dragon child (a girl) is born, he steals her away as revenge and raises her himself with his mate Ranyerileska (Ranyeri), as the princess of dragons, teaching her to hate humans by telling her that it was by human magic that she takes the form of one (she looks just like the queen).  Being only half dragon, she cannot fully change into a beast, but she does have horns, wings, tail dragon eyes, and talons when she does ‘change’  Also, colours of her hair, clothes, etc change from red (like the queen) to blue (like her dragon family)

Meets a human boy (who doesn’t know dragons exist, everyone is told by the king (who is ashamed of what happened) that they are extinct) by accident.  She of course runs away, but he follows her for a while before getting lost.  She eventually takes pity on him and ( )ings him food and such.  She does hate humans, but there is one part of her that is kind and compassionate, thanks to her real mother.  Her dragon mother does love her, but the girl is always feeling like it’s not quite real…Once he’s eaten and rested, she helps him get back home, but he soon comes looking for her again…After a few times that he finds her, she starts to trust him enough to show him her home.  Little does she know that this boy works at the palace and the King has long been searching for the Dragon King and his infernal child…

Dragon names: Dragons have three names in one. Name in parentheses is the informal name, used only by family and close friends.  Name left over is formal, for the court and such, as well as full name, though full name is only used in very formal introductions.  For example, in the court, the princess would call the dragon queen Leska and the king Rakesh, but would introduce them by their full names.  Outside the court, in the residence caves, she would call them Ranyeri and Syalo, if not mother and father

Dragon Mating Ceremony: Dragons use songs to find their mates.  They have the most beautiful voices in the world and to bear witness to a mating ceremony is an unforgettable event as all the participating dragons sing together.  The dragons themselves can pick out whose voice is whose and that is how they choose mates.  Whatever voice they are drawn to.  The two new mates then fly together in a dance before leaving the ceremony to adjourn to the prepared caves, to choose one as their home.  Often times there are dragons left over without mates.  If there is more of one gender than the other, the gender with the lesser amount sings once again for a second chance at a mate.  For many years now, however, the Dragon Princess has been the only female left without a mate and though she sings beautifully each time, she is not full dragon, therefore cannot draw another one to her.  Her father warned her of this, but she still hopes one day to find a mate.
