Beginning notes: Being Blessed by a god is not the same as being their Chosen. Being Blessed gives one certain abilities and appearances, but does not give the power of that god as it does to the Chosen. The Chosen are far more powerful than the Blessed.
-Blessing happens the eve before the child is born, making it very easy to prepare for those children. Once a Blessing has been bestowed, the family prepares for the child’s arrival the next day (scheduling the naming ceremony, preparing the certificate of birth, etc)
-The Blessed are chosen seemingly at random, no one knows the reasoning behind a Blessing and no one questions it.
-It is extremely rare that more than one child is Blessed in a family (ie if one child is Blessed, odds are their siblings, if they have any, will not be. However, a Blessed mother may give birth to a Blessed child, this event is much more common). A double child Blessing in a family is therefore cause for celebration and festivals are often held for these rare events.
-Blessings may indeed be revoked by the god if the Blessed one is deemed unworthy of their gift at any point in their life. Should this unfortunate event occur, the Blessed will instead have the appearance they would have had if they had been born as a normal child, but will be marked for the rest of their life. Their children will sometimes also be cursed, depending on the severity of the former Blessed’s disrespect or other unworthy action. This is a rather rare occurrence though, and will only last one generation, unless that generation is also deemed unworthy.
-If one is Blessed, it is highly unlikely that they will be Chosen by their god or any other, however it is not unheard of.
Children of the Sun
-Those Blessed by the Sun God, the King of the Prime Deities
-Tend to be tan skinned with either red or gold eyes and always snow white hair with a possible tint, depending on the Blessing. Some sun children also often tint their own hair due to personal preference. Completely dying the hair is forbidden as it is seen as a disrespect to the god who blessed them, but a tint can be applied. Coloured contacts are also forbidden. This is only a strict practice with Sun Children, but drastically changing one’s Blessed appearance is still seen as disrespect, whether the rule is enforced or not.
-Those with this Blessing are never cold, even when they are standing in snow. However, they can be affected by extreme heat. Because of this, their attire is usually warm weather. They see no reason to bundle up.
-Those Blessed by the Sun also have the ability to illuminate dark places.
-Sun children tend to be a bit stand-offish seeming because they are not fond of close contact due to the heat it produces, but like the one who Blessed them, they have very kind and open personalities and are usually natural born leaders. Most of these children are seen in positions of authority, royalty or military.
Children of the Moon
-Those Blessed by the Moon Goddess, the Queen of the Prime Deities and the lover of the Sun God
-Tend to have white, translucent looking skin. Their eyes are usually either gray or sometimes a dark pink or purple, and their hair is always a very dark black or blue.
-Those with this Blessing are rarely warm, and this can sometimes be seen as more of a curse than anything else. Because of this, their attire tends to head toward more cold weather. They also can be harmed by extreme cold, so extra care must be taken for them in Winter time. Moon Children are also quite sensitive to bright light, so that is another reason they tend to bundle up, to protect their skin. Due to the light sensitivity, they prefer darker places.
-Like Sun Children, they also have the ability to illuminate dark places, but their light is more subtle. They also have the ability to absorb light and darken places. This can be useful when one doesn’t want to be seen or to protect the Blessed one from harmful light.
-Moon Children are very affectionate and loving, as they crave warmth despite rarely being able to feel it. They are also very wise and intelligent, the highest intellect among the Blessed. They tend to have positions of archivists or somesuch (note: some Moon Children use their intellect for other jobs, it’s not uncommon to find them in more adventurous pursuits like exploring or archeology, however this does not tend to be the norm, as they are not usually ones for too much excitement, plus their sensitivity to light can be an issue in these pursuits as well, though some make it work), although this is not always the case. Because of their affectionate personalities, one may often find Moon Children in positions along the lines of courtesan. Moon Children also tend to make the best parents.
Children of the Earth
-Those Blessed by the Earth Goddess, The Wolf Mother and a Prime Deity
-There are two types of Earth Blessing. The Dryad and the Wolf. Dryad Blessings tend to have green skin, or at least a green tint, blue or green eyes, and darker blonde or green hair. Wolf Blessings have darker skin, sometimes with a grey tint or colour, and have either brown or lavender eyes (Lavender eyes in regular people are called Sheba’s Gift and are very rare). Their hair is usually on the darker side, browns and reds, but is never black.
-Those with the Dryad Blessing can feel both warm and cold, but cannot stand to be cold. Rarely will you find a Dryad in a cold climate, as lower temperatures can make them extremely irritable, so their attire is usually warm weather, to match their ideal clime. Wolf Blessings can also feel both warm and cold and are not adverse to either. However, extremes of either can be harmful, so they are typically found in neutral climates, like forests, and tend to wear clothing that is neither warm nor cold.
-Earth Blessings both have abilities to do with nature. Dryad Blessings can make plants and trees grow, even from a dead state, and can speak through them (ie, a Dryad could realistically send a message using a vine by making it grow to the person they were trying to send a message to). Wolf Blessings can communicate with animals and have the ability to shape shift into wolves (also known as Sheba’s Children). It’s not uncommon to find a wolf pack that is actually a clan of Wolf Blessings.
Earth Children as a whole are generous and nurturing, grounded in logic and favouring responsibility over frivolity. They prefer to only have essentials, anything more is considered a gift and something to be very grateful for. They are very loyal, one can depend on them and trust them for anything
Dryad Blessings are typically good natured and nurturing, but can be very flighty at times. There are four types of Dryad Blessings: Flower, Willow, Oak, and Thorn. When a Dryad Blessing reaches a certain age, they are categorized into one of these types, depending on their strengths.
Flowers possess intellect and creativity, tending to be playful and flirtatious. They are usually artists or entertainers of some kind.
Willows have wisdom and commanding ability, usually calm and collected. They make the best teachers.
Oaks favour the ability to protect and persevere, tending to be the most nurturing and patient. They tend to lean toward sentinel or scout positions, but also work very well with children.
Thorns are decisive and determined, making them a bit more on the impulsive side. They are the best warriors and competitive performers.
By contrast, the Wolf Blessings are rooted in family and tradition and are usually the more grounded of the Earth Children. They are much more logical and methodical and focus on unity rather than competition. They are very forgiving to those who challenge them if keeping them close will benefit them. However, outside challenges are met with aggressive determination and are rarely victorious. Wolf Blessings tend to stick together, like their animal brethren, and anyone who wrongs one, tends to wrong all of them. Woe betide the one who gets on a Wolf Blessing’s bad side, for there is definitely more than one person they have to worry about… Wolf Blessings tend to be more in touch with the earth and spiritual world, so they usually have positions such as farming, shaman/medicine, or martial arts. Note: Thorn Dryad Blessings and Wolf Blessings often have duels to see who is the better fighter. The events can last days or even weeks.
Children of the Sea
-Those Blessed by either the Water Goddess, The Angel of the Sea and a Prime Deity, or the Goddess of the Tides. Both are offspring of the Sun and Moon, born during eclipses and are sometimes called the Princess Deities.
-Sea Blessings are always pale skinned with either light purple or light blue hair and blue or green eyes, while Tidal Blessings have slightly darker skin and golden eyes, but still keep the light blue or purple hair.
