Tristan’s Grandfather, Elijah discovers how ‘Gen’ can connect with the horses in a way not many can.  That’s when he takes Gen and Tristan aside and tells them of the Tavi, a race of people who could hear the voices of horses.  Certain Tavi, known as Tavi Conexus, had a Link, a horse to which they were bound to and could connect to on many levels.  The Link was also a pact that the horse would listen to any command as long as the Tavi heeded their words as well. The Tavi could transform their horse to any elemental or even another animal with the right command. However, the Tavi had more power and one day, a group of the Tavi decided that they would use that power to control their horses, turning them into weapons.  This group became the Tavi Nefaria and the Tavi were appalled by the abuse of the Link and soon a war broke out between them. To this day, the war continues, however secret with most of the descendents not knowing of their magical origin.  In the time before the Tavi split in two, the Gift was common in both males and females, but as time passed, only males received it.  That is why Elijah marvels at the fact that Gen has the Gift and takes it as a sign that the time has come for the final battle. So begins the search for Gen and Tristan’s Links and their training to become Tavi Conexus.  The enemy is not yet known, but Elijah will train the two Tavi descendants for when the Tavi Nefaria reveal themselves.  Gen acquires her Link, a beautiful Arabian named Promise, however, Tristan has yet to find his…

The descendants of the Tavi Nefaria have finally shown themselves, but the face of Tristan’s enemy is one he cannot fight.  As he continues his training with Gen and his grandfather, his frustration at not having a Link and at the same time, having to fight someone he cares about begins a battle of his own inside him.  Another Conexus is revealed, one who already has his Link, which frustrates Tristan more.  In his frustration and anger, he distances Gen from him.  How on earth will the Conexus defeat the Nefaria if they are not even united? But in distancing himself from his allies, he gains his Link.  In the meantime, the Nefaria grow in number…the battle is close at hand.  As things begin to escalate, Gen’s grandmother visits and is told she must return to England with her.  Thinking Tristan is still angry with her, she agrees. Separating any of the Conexus could lead to defeat. Will Tristan realize his mistake too late?

The final battle approaches.  The Conexus are weakened by the absence of Gen and Tristan, having realized his feelings for her, tries desperately to find a way to bring her back.  He’ll have to do a lot to make up for the things he said.  With the help of Liam and his Grandfather, Tristan is able to make a trip to England to get Gen back. Once there, he finds that she is following her Grandmother’s orders and training for a horse show coming up, completely tossing her Conexus training, and even her Tavi heritage, aside. While Tristan fights to gain back her trust, the Nefaria make their first move against the remaining Conexus and soon the war begins.  However, one Nefaria is having trouble deciding which side she truly wants to be on…

Aria

Tristan and Gen attempt to make their way back to America to help Liam and Elijah, but find their way blocked by the Nefaria.  Meanwhile, Liam and Elijah are left to fight on their own and the Conexus suffer a great loss at the hands of Deception, a powerful, but unstable Nefaria.  Once she makes her first victory, Deception flies into a battle crazed state, unable to stop herself.  When Tristan and Gen finally make their way back, it is Deception who greets them.  Tristan must now face the one person he never wanted to…in a battle to the death.  And this battle…will determine who wins the ancient war once and for all.
