Melissa was born in space and there was no places she'd rather be. It was where she learned to walk, talk and Fly. Her father Hoban and mother Zoey loved and adored there daughter.The rest of the crew did too, even if they never admitted it (camera would have panned to Jayne) The cap'n was her god father, the machanic she lovingly call anuty Kaylee, then there was the Doc, Inara, Preacher and the two funnest people in the galxy Jayne and River. They were her family. River and Melissa spent alot of time playing games around the ship like hid and seek, Jayne told the best stories (reluctntly). One day when Melissa was 5 her whole life changed, while her family was out on a job 2 alliance officers dragged her off the ship, they wanted to trade her for River. Uncle Jayne shot them in the head. But her family decited it would no longer be safe abord the ship, so they flew to a planet near eged of the system where Zoey's mother lived, and that became Melissas new home.  her family would often vist, and she got many letters from her father.

Years passed and on day when Melissa was 7 she got a strange letter from her mother, it read (Mommy and Father no the truth about the reavers, if you see two men wearing blue gloves run!, and don't stop running! Mommy will find you.)

a few nights later,  Melissa awok to the sound of glass breaking, some had throw a neuro bomb into the house, her grandma handed her melissa's mother gun, and told her to run and hid in the woods. melissa ran out the back door and hide for 2 weeks before heading back.

when she got home the window was fixed and the house looked clean, she found her grandma in her bed, dead. Melissa ran to her room, grabed a large duffle bag, fliped her bed over and cut it open, it was filled with credits. She stuffed the bag untill it was full then she filled her pockets. She grabed and old brown coat and a toy han-solo, and left
