There was a time before. When we who are one were four scattered tribes or groups or families or clans - or whatever it is they call people who are not one people. Before the Weather changed for good - for the last time, perhaps, that will ever be.

The Eastern peoples (and who can tell now, what their clan name was, if a name they had; for they called themselves 'we' and others called them 'they') have and had and have always had an affinity for fire; and they kindled it to a blaze and built their culture around it.
