Note: the Night Watchers story belongs to AvalonTheQuin. This short story is about my elf OC from that world, Nineve.

Q: Hello...Nineve, isn’t it?

N: Yes. I think you may have made a mistake, though–I’m not a Night Watcher or anyone exciting. I’m just an elf passing through.

Q: Well, if you need to leave that’s fine but we’d love to learn more about you if you are willing to answer a few questions.

N: (politely nods and folds her hands together) Of course.

Q: (shuffles notes) Alright. Where do you come from?

N: I have lived in the forests for most of my life but I do travel from place to place. Recently I have been exploring more populated regions and I have found the diversity of this world most interesting.  There is so much to discover here, history and mythology alike, particularly at the Night Watchers Academy.

Q: So that is why you are here?

N: As I said before, I am simply passing through. But while I am here if I can learn something I will certainly seize the opportunity.

Q: Have you met any of the staff and students here yet?

N: A few. They are all quite friendly, I have found. Or at least most of them. There was a girl with white hair and a glass over her eye that ignored me but I must assume that she is having a stressful day.

Q: (chuckles) No, she’s like that all the time.

N: (frowns) Really? Well, I am certain that there is a reason for that. In any case, I was speaking with a charming young man by the name of James just a few minutes ago. He was very flattering and I must admit I was a bit enchanted by his silver words but I suppose I must be more naïve than I thought because another Night Watcher came and cuffed James across the face. He told James off for flirting as the boy lied on the ground with a bleeding nose and I was a bit mortified that I had fallen so easily for his flattery. I suppose that it what comes with living a sheltered life.

Q: (checks notes) Who was that?

N: I believe his name was Francesco. Dark violet hair and similarly colored garb. He was a true gentleman for protecting my honor, so I respect him for that.

Q: Yes, that would be Francesco. Anyone else you met?

N: I ran into a Night Watcher by the name of Alina who was very pleasant to speak with and another called Elman who was equally kind. I hope to speak with Lady Mertillia soon since she must have a great deal of knowledge of the history of this place, though the elf who advised me to speak with her–Callidum, I think his name was–warned me to be careful as Lady Mertillia has quite a quick temper.

Q: How long do you plan to stay here?

N: A few days, probably. If I find a reason to stay longer I will. Still, I do enjoy this life of travelling so I cannot imagine I will linger.

Q: I see. Now, a bit more about yourself. What is your family like?

N: (smiles) We are such a close family. I have nine ( )others and sisters and I am stuck straight in the middle. I have spent many years with them, caring for my younger siblings and learning from my older ones. When I decided to leave home my ( )other Gawain came with me but we went separate ways a few months later. I finally felt my first taste of independence and though I enjoy it I believe I will return to my family’s home someday. I do miss them terribly but I know that they are all safe.

Q: So, you love travelling. What of your other talents?

N: I suppose I have a gift for music. I can play most instruments expertly but I am still teaching myself a few. I am quite impressed with the talents of the Night Watchers as I have never held a weapon in my life. They know how to fight so that it looks like an effortless dance. I do have some minor elf magic as well but it is nothing extraordinary.

Q: Well, thank you for telling us a bit about yourself and your time here. I hope you do stay a bit longer so you can meet a few of the titans. I don’t see them often but they do come here so I would keep my eye out for one of them. They know their history, too, and if you can get them to talk about it they would certainly answer any questions you might have.

N: (rises and bows slightly) Thank you for the advice. You have been most kind and I wish you the best of fortunes on your path of life.
