Na'adia's story takes place many centuries before the events depicted in Tales of Tanjia, during the reign of Ka'asume's grandmother, Empress Na'anaki.~~~~~~~~~
Na'adia is the only child of the stern, aging Songmaster Jah'hkris, Tanjia's most honored keeper of ancient cultural folk songs and musical traditions. Her mother is Li'isara, a once-famous artisan of the Order of Muses who disgraced the Sisterhood by deserting it to marry Na'adia's father, one of her former patrons.~~~~~~~~~~
Na'adia spent her childhood on her family's beautiful country estate in a mountainous province, far from the glamour and intrigue of the Imperial Courts. Her father enjoys a modest but comfortable pension, courtesy of the Empress, who during her reign is a great lover of the arts.~~~~~~~
For many years, Na'adia lives in an innocent bliss, naive to the cares of the world. She grows into a beautiful young woman, with her mother's loving nature, her father's stubborness, and her own lively spirit. She doesn't yet know what trials are in store for her, as the reign of Tanjia's beloved empress nears its end, and rival political parties begin to simmer in tension across the globe... as she meets her first love... and when her father forces her hand in marriage to a man she would only have called friend. |
