I actually use Volsung the most! (Waterbreathing is so helpful, hahaha. And don't forget the carry weight~) I have a mage character, but this character is a one-handed sneaky warrior thief. For my mage I actually use the dragon priest mask that makes you immune to poison and disease, funnily enough. (He's decked out in other stuff that helps magic, anyway.)
