I just got back from a long vacation, and what do I see? A GORGEOUS collections of stories awaiting me! Saralyn, you truly are a wonderful storyteller, and each time I read an update, I'm more enraptured in your characters. I loved finally having the face of Cat's father, as well as a little more insight into him. The Bird Man is a mysterious figure as well, and I enjoyed reading about him as well! And finally we have an update on the couple! I eagerly await more, and thank you~

Catleya takes out the knives and explains to Velen their virtually unique magical properties. "Cat, I'm a Cleric of Nocturnia! I can't keep these!" "I know what you are, Velen. And I believe... that for me... because I ask it of you with care and concern... you can." Velen bows his head. "All right. For you. I don't have to use them."

"We were... caught up in one of my visions, but it was a true vision. It happened," Velen tilts her head up to search her eyes. "Were you concerned that it hadn't?" "I... You called me Cat?" "Yes, I suppose I did. I won't if it bothers you. In my mind, it suits you, though," Velen says softly, pitched for her ears only, although they are alone. Catleya is as still as a statue for a moment, letting herself absorb the moment. Slowly, so slowly, she unlaces her fingers from between Velen's.

"Velen," Catleya begins, also in a strange tone, "you're unexpectedly good with casting illusions." Not sure where she's leading, he merely answers, "Yes, it was a means of eluding my father." Cat exclaims without thinking. Velen smiles. "No, break up over whether you needed my intervention to help defend the honor of your person, obviously. Your cousin is... incidental." "Oh... well, that's much more reasonable of you, but I still refuse to fight about it, and you'd need my cooperation."

"I don't think so. He won't risk the awkwardness, I believe." "Does your telepathy tell you that?" Cat demands. "My sense of him, perhaps. He's... grown more cautious than his reputation would lead one to believe... I'm nearly sure," Velen says, shrugging. "Haraemeis du Lac has fought few duels, but lost, never," Catleya informs her erstwhile defender, needed or not. "And he might, were it not for me, very well send an assassin after you. Don't push him!" Velen draws a slow, deep breath.
