However, as they circle the two islands, supposedly searching for the best place to land, no other ships can be seen in the area. Safe or not, Captain Shooting Star has no choice but to run aground.

They have, of course, been blown considerably farther out to sea than they expected to be by the storm, but Shooting Star and her officers don't anticipate any problems in reaching a pair of islands that have fresh water and trees for lumber, barring further disaster. The Firebrand is riding lower in the water than anyone would really like by the time they sight land, but happily they had no cargo to speak of and weren't running loaded down to begin with. The shore is sandy and inviting looking.

She relates this news to her passengers, which doesn't surprise them a great deal, as it's obvious that the crew will need materials to fix the Firebrand that they simply don't have aboard.
