Ironically, the individual whose benefit this is for opts not to be a spectator to her dancing, either. Not in any normal manner, that is. Amen's preference is to view the dance subjectively, as Syeha would see it, from his vantage point inside the diamond ring. Being a fey, he gets neither dizzy nor disoriented; likewise, the blue boy isn't sublimated into the movement itself as Syeha is, but is instead free to appreciate its full beauty. He tries not to set his hopes for success too high.

Syeha slowly begins. Amazingly, Makto has been able to use his influence to recruit the other young people of the village into corralling the littler children elsewhere, so she doesn't have to worry about either of those elements in her audience, only the adults. "Breathe," Syeha thinks to herself. "Just breathe." And it is that easy... sort of... in a way. At least, it is that easy to become lost in the dance. Interpreting it will be another challenge altogether. But the trees did bow.

Syura is so proud that she is nearly speechless as she gives her daughter final instructions on specific steps that might prove effective and what she can expect. "The trees usually have the clearest voices," the older woman says, "and for this you'll probably want lots of turning, but... do what feels right to you." The girl's eyes are wide. Word has spread in the village that she will be dancing ceremonially for the first time, and people are trying to look as though they are not watching.

Consequently, one evening when the djinn boy has returned to the commerce city to speak with Ifrit and Silver Fox, Syeha broaches the subject of her mysterious intuition to her parents. Neither Taronyu nor Syura is terribly skeptical about it, but oddly enough it is Syeha's father who suggests that maybe, even though he doesn't feel she is ready to seek her own song yet, the teen might attempt to dance on the matter. After all, there is nothing to lose by trying, and it is a family tradition.

There is a growing certainty inside the southern girl that, not only is Amen's problem her problem too because she loves him, but also that it is hers to solve. Syeha has no logical reason for this feeling, yet somehow she knows that she will be the one to think up or otherwise discover the single missing piece of information that will allow the transformation magic to work as intended. One must undergo various trials in order to become a witch-woman; perhaps this will be Syeha's initial test.
