Thanks so very much, Leaf!!! I decided it would be good for Brin to get out of the house and travel some, face danger, spend some time with a person who is not a relative (sister Witches only half count), and in general stretch her wings again!

Oh Saralyn, I'm completely intrigued! I was so sure Marea will go on this journey with Hawkeye! Now we get to see Brin in action, wow. And potion powder!!!! That's one of the most genius idea EVER! No wonder she's a High Mistress, totally deserves it!

Brin had developed a way in which potions could be distilled down into an inert form, bottled carefully, and then uncorked and mixed again with water for full effect. All that was required was an innate power over the element of water, which most Witches, especially those who brewed potions, possessed. So, while she could not actively brew on the road, Brin could carry a full arsenal of useful potions with her in a knapsack, slipping a few really key ones into pockets, both overt and hidden.

"Be careful, my loved one," Brin told her daughter, kissing her forehead. "Since grandma is too unwell to go on a long and rigorous trip, I suppose I must tell you the same," Marea responded. "Do you doubt your mother is up to the challenge?" Ynarra asked her grandchild. Marea looked down, saying neither yes nor no. "She has centuries of experience that you lack, and if you are thinking potion making does not lend itself to mobility, you should remember why Brin was made a High Mistress."

Marea nearly jumped out of her settee. "What, you mean I'm not going with Hawkeye?" "You feel you are the logical one to go," said Ynarra calmly, yet I think your skills will be put to better use investigating the site where the Oakenlings were waylaid."

"Exactly," Brin grinned wolfishly. "How does an Oakenling, who dwells deep in the forest in the Twilight realm, come to be known by sight in this one?" "He did say that he and his wife had journeyed from his people in the east to her tribe in the west before," offered Marea, "but I got the impression that they did so without entering the mortal realm." She bit her lip. "Maybe he was spotted by Damians originally?" "That's certainly possible," approved Brin, "And we must guard against them."
