Therefore the girl prevails upon the tender-hearted Moon Shadow to allow her to stay as well, for that short time and assuming that her mother can spare her at home, in order, essentially, to befriend Amen and show him the sights. As Moon Shadow herself has been deputized to keep an eye on the lively Syeha, this requires them both extending their visit to the city slightly longer than anticipated. Truly, the new mother would prefer to be at home with her children, but what's a few more days?

Syeha, however, is distressed to learn that, during the time period between their leaving, and the arrival of Silver Fox and Ifrit, Amen will be all alone in the commerce city, with no friends, and only the asylum of the Arcane Academy as a place to stay. The city must have changed in the past 200 or 300 years, and places that were safe before, might now be risky to travel openly wearing such a huge diamond. No doubt Amen would be able to handle many thieves, but it only takes one success.

Still, Moon Shadow is delighted with the idea of Amen staying at the Academy as a constant reminder and spokesman for this cause. She cannot speak for the wizards, of course, but she believes that they will be delighted to take in so unique a being as a self-owning fey; it will challenge their minds and their prejudices. Naturally, Amen's story must be summarized and exclaimed over, and wishes expressed that the two ladies might have heard it in its entirety. But it is time to go home now.
