Although the prospect of socializing with the upper nobles who socialize with the imperial family is tempting to Glai'laren, it is not a sure thing like the money she will make lending her home in Taj'erii to visitors during the festival. And she has plans to "make over" Liri'el and perhaps match her with one of the merchants she is considering for her daughter-in-law. This is Liri'el's less than thrilled face.
