| Continuing my #Mulan "3" story: Khittin wasn't quite cutting through the heart of the desert, yet the route she took, a secret kept by the Mongol royalty and a few couriers and messengers, shaved days off of any passable caravan trek. It was suitable only for a rider or two and their ponies, for there were no true oases, just trickling freshets and mostly-dry wells, but it effectively prevented anyone from following her and Emperor. Not being an idiot, the princess traveled solely at night or very early morning; although she froze nearly through, that was preferable to sun blindness and dehydration. This day, however, the young girl couldn't sleep even fitfully. She was too full of regrets and self recriminations. Without her, the peace treaty would stand anyway, wouldn't it? And surely Fa Mulan and Li Shang were capable of somehow dealing with the threat of Kala Nag and her henchmen. But was it right to leave them in that predicament? After all, they were her friends!
