Continuing my #Mulan 2 retelling: Though sincere about keeping the Sword of the Heroine with her at all times, and Yu Lien nearby as well... within reason, since she was, in reality, an ancient spirit... Mulan didn't put these changes into effect immediately. She went looking for General Li Shang instead, fairly certain that she knew the identity of the orange tiger who had protected her. Unfortunately, the recently promoted Princess didn't find Shang, because he was deliberately avoiding her. He wasn't sure what was happening to him, and wanted to consult with Yu Lien first, before speaking to anyone else, even Fa Mulan. "I'm glad that you've accompanied Mulan," he began. "I haven't had a chance to tell you that, and it's perhaps the only thing about this mission that makes me happy, but... she needs someone by her side that she can trust." "She trusts you," Yu Lien told him, "with her life, and more. It is a shame things have turned out this way... for many reasons." (cont.)
