| Continuing my #Mulan tale for @DysMalLexia's contest: Several times Mulan ventured back into the fray with the same directive, finding fewer and fewer men on each trip, yet always telling them to rescue any horses they could, check for villagers, and then meet up with the other soldiers headed east. She chose that direction because going south into the pass would put them into the likeliest path of the Hun army, and many of them were wounded, not to mention the civilians that would include the old and young. North was out of the question, of course, and while east and west were both mountainous, eastward was slightly easier going. After sending all of the survivors she encountered east, however, Mulan had no choice but to rely on the fresh troops that she firmly believed Li Shang was bringing. The new recruits would be woefully outnumbered by the strength of the Huns she'd witnessed, however "Commander" Fa hoped to think of some brilliant strategy before they arrived. (cont) |
