Originally named Ris, he fled life as a kitchen drudge at 7 after being seriously burned over right chest, side, arm, and especially hand by a spilled cauldron of porridge; coincidentally he took shelter in a disused area of the Healer Hall where he found two curious pins, later given to him by his mentor and adoptive father Masterhealer Amar. He treasures both these and his bronze fire lizard, Nostrum.
