Well, the blue orbs are supposed to be her magic powers fighting off the evil ghoul....thing (dunno what it is yet), but it's not working; she's losing the battle (magical corruption, represented by the black edgings around some of her magic orb thingies and her dark clothes ). Basically, whatever she's fighting has been hunting her for a long time, and it's taken control of the world around her; the sky, the ground, *everything*. You don't win against those odds, hence the title....
