The people of Ragnarok have no currency, only trade for everything they need, except for "Light" which is given out freely as it is always in abundance. However, these are the types of jobs you will find in this realm: Dredgers (ships and their crews that dredge "Light" from the sea), Craftsmen (build boats, buildings, and tools), Priests and Priestesses which include singers, musicians, and artists, Tamers (people who capture, breed and train the world's limited wildlife to serve humanity), FireSmiths (lighthouse keepers, essentially, as the lighthouse is a person's means of finding other people), and Guides (people who raise the children).
Children are raised by the community, and scarecely view their own parents with any more love and respect than they do anyone else. Marriage is loose union if only for the fact that spouses can be so easily seperated. Upon reaching the age of 10, children choose an role to be apprenticed into, though they will learn the skills of several jobs over the course of their life-time.
Ragnarok: the sentient world. As alive as the citizens that walk it's surface. It is a chaotic realm of shifting islands upon a churning sea of liquid metal. But this is also the only life the people have ever known. They are used to waking up every morning unsure if there will even be a sunrise to greet them, or if their neighbors are now many miles away.
There is little color here, only shades of metal. Sustenance comes in the form of "Light", a shining life-force dredged from the sea, supposedly from the "bloodstream" of the world itself.
The goddess of Ragnarok is called Eternielysia, and the people are riggorous in their worship of her. Once she walked among her people, but citizens of Ragnarok have no concept of time, and no words for past or future tense, so no one would be able to tell you how long she has been absent. Let's just say, it has been a very, very long while, even by the standards of an immortal.
