Thanks so much, Luna, as always!!! I think Lady Deyandra can be trusted pretty much to do whatever seems to benefit her most, but perhaps what is ideal in her eyes might be... malleable... given the right incentive.

I suppose that when all is said and done, in spite of her motives, she is still a mother. But I do wonder how much she truly is aware of in the world around her...and how much ignorance she is feigning. Wonderfully dramatic!

Unprecedentedly, Deyandra looks at the floor. "I've been... uneasy... with this data, a long time."

Velen looks shrewdly at her for a long, long moment. She always turned a blind eye to his father's activities, yet it is conceivable that she feared him too much to intervene. Velen doesn't think so, though.

"My son," she tells him, after her usual flow of fluffy pleasantries, "it has come to my attention that you are making inquiries into the death of a specific young artist of a generation ago, from people other than myself." "Yes, Mother," Velen confirms. "This will cease immediately! It is unconscionable! I won't have it!" her voice remains pleasant, but emphatic. "I see," her son observes dryly. "And the reason I should obey you is...?" "I have several reasons, and all are excellent."

It has been a trying night, for the young cleric is nearly 100% certain that Laelinae knows, if not exactly why her cour was killed, then in general what led to Sobralin's murder. But she has essentially vowed never to speak of it. Velen is, therefore, not in a tolerant mood to meet his own mother, who has apparently been waiting in the entry hall of the large house for his return. Lady Deyandra is barely adorned at all; she must not have gone out that night, which is strange in the extreme.
