Morgause and Morgana were taken to Listenois, where Morgause offered herself to Lamrok, son of King Penillore, in the hope of regaining their freedom, also taking control of the military force she needed for revenge. However, Merlin leaked the information to her sons, who were all Knights of the round table. Being angered by her doing, Gareth and Gaheris killed their mother. In her dying bed, Morgause entrusted Mordred to Morgana, then sacrificed herself to her youngest sister.

Whilst Arthur was a man and the rightful heir, he would have much more influence over the people. In a fit of anger, Morgause disguised as Guinevere and conceived a son, Mordred, through Arthur, in the hope of competing for the throne. Morgause then returned to Lothian with Morgana, and encouraged an rebellion of her husband. The coup was thawed by Merlin, and King Lot was killed by King Penillore.

The Lady of the Lake appeared before the sisters, and instructed them to support their half-brother. Morgause was furious, she would not help the son of the man who destroyed her family. Instead, Morgause proposed that she is the first-born of Alwyn, and a queen herself, she can bring back the faith of the Fae. However, the Lady of the Lake refused by saying Morgause is a woman and not of royal blood, Men would not take her seriously.
