By now, Karako was recovering her normal complexion, after all the color drained from her skin as she was rocking, leaving a moon-like pallor which had sparkled vaguely. "Can we afford to take the time away from the... I say it was the Snake-Eyed's... direct trail, in order to investigate stolen horses?" asked Draensil. "I think it's important enough to warrant a slight delay, and may save us time in the future," Elora answered. "Furthermore, I believe it is appropriate to share this evidence."

"So... you think it's meaningful that I smell horses when, and only when, my magic is directed toward finding the Snake-Eyed. In other words, there definitely are Iretmoses alive in the world who have kidnapped Vedika and Tiger, and that when I look for them, what I happen to smell is horses, right?" "Very likely because they stole a couple of them," the boys confirmed, "either because horses are familiar to them in an overwhelmingly new world, or because cars and traffic are just too baffling."

"No, you seemed to be executing it perfectly," Elora told her. "I think..." Mark stated slowly, "I think it might be worthwhile to scry for or talk to people in the neighborhood who might be missing horses."

"Okay..." Draensil said dubiously. Just as suddenly, the fox fae ceased rocking and sat quite upright, giving the sense of staring at the horizon, although her eyes remained shut. "The distance is too great," Karako concluded finally. "Or, I guess maybe there simply weren't any to begin with, which I think is... no, wait... horse... er... droppings!" And with that utterance, the Kitsune's lids flew open in a beaming face. "Well, I think they're responsible, also, Karako," Draensil soothed.

The Kitsune closed her star sapphire eyes, and straightened her posture, breathing deeply. Her chant was audible, and in the old language of the fae; however, even in such a mellifluous tongue, the words sounded harsh, and overly sibilant, like hissing. Then, abruptly, Karako buried her face in her hands, and started rocking, like a small child. Even Draensil was alarmed. "No," interjected Elora. "Let her rock. It helps her clear her thoughts and expectations out of the way for clearer insight."
