Plus, the pair just gave off a "vibe" that indicated there might be something more to them than was immediately visible. Hence, the two "kids" were able to relax and act like tourists with carefree hearts in the human world, and likewise proceed without much worry in the Twilight Realm, well-guarded by her griffin and his woodcraft skills, not to mention the magic of each. Possibly they'd have stayed in the Twilight Realm even more had they known of Brin's telepathy charm, but that was a secret.

So Vedika joined Tiger in his trip northward through Europe, sometimes camping out alone in the Twilight Realm, which was nice, and at other points staying in youth hostels with mortals of their relative age, which was fun, too. Tiger had no translation spells, but Vedika spoke for him. Surprisingly, no one tried to take advantage of the two apparent teenagers, despite Tiger's naivete, since it was clear that he was preternaturally alert, and under the watchful eye of the more streetwise Vedika.

This, of course, was contingent upon her coven being able to spare her, but Isthare was feeling mellow, and granted her leave. After all, Isthare herself was erratic in her magic, and therefore not of much use to the coven right now. Because Witch covens were arranged based on the number three, where one was absent, missing two wasn't significantly more of a hardship; or in other words, Isthare's coven of a dozen would do just about as well with nine members in attendance as with ten or eleven.
