"Are you nervous?" Brin barely breathed to Hawkeye once she reached his side. "Why would I be? I'm here with you. You're here with me," he whispered, low and virtually inaudible. She took his hand and smiled into his eyes, then turned them both to face Mistress Supreme Niyam, the venerable witch who would be conducting the ceremony itself. The couple knelt, and Niyam put a hand on each of their heads, sprinkling them with the sacred water. As they stood, she asked, "Are you both ready?"

The flower girl was elated, of course. Being mortal, any time she was allowed to interact with non-mortals was thrilling to young Faylinn, and this time she was even up way beyond her bedtime, too. Ynarra was sitting in the first row as the mother of the bride, now, since she'd officiated the Solstice Ritual, but planned to enjoy the wedding itself as a bystander rather than a participant. Her daughter's aura glowed almost as brightly as the chandeliers above, the twinkle lights and candles.

Soon after the religious observance was finished, it was time, finally, for Brin's "debut" as the bride. Soft mandolin music played as she walked slowly down the aisle, flanked by her bridesmaids, but otherwise alone. Brin was a grown witch, after all. Ynarra didn't give her away; she gave herself. Just as Hawkeye's parents hadn't been consulted about "arranging or approving" this match. In his opinion, what's done was done. There he was, waiting for her. The couple's eyes glowed warmly.
