Thanks so much, Elswyth!! She's fond of basic black, but if it weren't expected of a "Dark Witch", I can't help wondering if she wouldn't experiment with a bit of color every now and then. :)

They'd accept that, gleefully most likely, and give her autonomy to move as she chose. The best thing about that explanation was that it was, from a certain perspective, true. Not that Isthare had scruples about deceit, but it was easier not to get caught in a lie if you hadn't told one. The Dark Sister couldn't wait to get home to Ooneil and his cooking, among other things. Also, she wanted to share her day with him, and discover if he might know of someone with illicit technical skills.

Not that Isthare expected the Lyllu to be a master of that particular skill, either, but he definitely had more contacts than she did. This called for one of those rare individuals, a half-Fae who chose to live in the mortal world. The Dark Sister attempted to come up with plausible reasons for possibly going to Seaddhu that would satisfy the hierarchy. She could tell them she was tracking something important... which might explain Brin's odd behavior and alleviate the Union's culpability.

"I'll... consider it," Isthare told her aunt noncommittally, edging out the door and away. Wonderful, that meant that there was a Traitor still at large, unsuspected by anyone but Isthare, and Brin... please be alive, Brin, I need an ally... and whoever else Brin had told, presumably only her own family. Of course, there was also Ooneil who was vital... well, because she wanted someone to bounce her thoughts off of, and because the young High Mistress had no clue how to hack a cellular phone.

By this time Isthare had her reactions under control. It would appear that her aunt was not, after all, the Traitor who'd existed all along. Nevertheless, she was eager to go rogue with Isthare's help and cooperation. That was interesting. "And just how do you think we'll find him, assuming you're allowed beyond these walls?" the younger Dark Sister asked. "He took Brin's belongings with him. Like calls to like. All you have to do is find that misplaced object she wrote to you about."
