In all honesty, it may be difficult to leave the capitol city of Noxvaelia for an inconveniently long time. The "sick blind mother ploy" is, in fact, not a bad idea. And it was clever of Laelinae to establish her request for her child's presence as soon as possible, even without knowing what sort of problem Cat has. If Meretris chooses to put his rarely used political influence behind her mother's plea, surveillance of the young assassin could easily shift from Ville Eternelle to her home.
