Velen is waiting for her outside the interview room. "I came as soon as I heard there'd been an incident," he says hurriedly. "Are you all right?" "I'm fine, only very tired." "I know you said..." the young Cleric begins. "Never mind what I said," she interrupts. "I've had a few eves to think, and I was inexcusably foolish. I'm sorry. It isn't enough, but I'm so sorry." "It's all right, Catleya. I didn't mean half the things I said either," he soothes. "Take me home, Velen. Please."

"She fell. She simply... fell?" asks the inspector. "Perhaps she tripped over my half-coat," theorizes Catleya. "It came off when the man grabbed me." "And this unlikely series of events explains why you are completely unhurt," says the police officer dubiously. "Well, I did break a nail," Cat explains sweetly. That is more than he can bear with equanimity. "Go," he tells her. "I'm done with you for now. You are, in fact, staying with Madame du Leethe?" She nods. "Just go... Miss."

"We have a witness who is prepared to testify that you quote, 'decimated them'," he informs Cat, not for the first time that day. "As there was no one in the immediate vicinity, I can only presume this individual saw what transpired from a distance. Possibly that leads this person to unwittingly exaggerate," postulates the young assassin. "I struggled and hit the man in the neck, I think. He's quite tall, and everything happened so fast. The woman fell and probably suffered a concussion."

"I just find it difficult to believe that an ordinary citizen, a landscape gardener by trade, was set upon by two professional assassins, and not only fought them off alone and unarmed, but serious injured them both," states the police investigator, trying to maintain a tone of logic and rationality himself. "Nevertheless, that is exactly what happened. At least, I accept your word for it that they are professional assassins. I wouldn't know about such matters," responds Catleya. She smiles.
