The desert lad grins, then glancess down at the cobbled together weapon Silver Fox has made from the stout stick and bandage webbing. "I'm not sure what I could do with that, however," Amen says apologetically. "Wait a minute; I'm not finished yet. My magic outside of essences is very weak, but I think with the semblance prepared, I can turn this into a proper slingshot. Just don't use it unless I tell you to, and until you have a clear target, all right?" Amen grins again. "That I can do."

"Yes, and no," is his answer. Shooting Star lunges and scores on her opponent's arm, but isn't quite fast enough to parry and receives a shallow cut to the shoulder in return. "I'll never be used to that," Silver Fox says, hoping the cut is really as shallow as it looks. He spends a moment looking for suitably forked wood and another searching for smooth stones of the right size. "I assume as a former shepherd boy, you're amazingly accurate with a slingshot?" he says to Amen, almost casually.

"We do something extremely difficult," Silver Fox replies. "We wait. Also, we keep watch for any possible accomplices, because those haven't been absolutely ruled out, but mostly, we wait." Amen looks slightly dubious. He feels like he ought to be doing something less passive. "Distracting her at this point could be fatal," Estel's husband adds in a tight voice. "If it begins to seem like she's losing, then we reevaluate our actions, of course." "You're used to watching her back?" Amen asks.

Meanwhile, since everyone else's attention is firmly fixed on the sword combat out on the beach, Silver Fox resumes his human form and sneaks down the slope to wind up at Amen's back. "Shh," he tells the desert boy, swiftly cutting through Jade River's bandage with his knife, for it is that bit of webbing which the man has used to bind the lad's hands. Amen immediately starts to rub and chafe his wrists, and unobtrusively climbs to his feet. "What do we do now?" the former blue djinn breathes.
