She stirs in her sleep, shaking her head, not to reject what her father is telling her, but to try to clear her mind of fog. The shadow looming over Estel pauses. Shooting Star's hand grasps the hilt of her sword, and her eyelids flicker, yet don't quite open as the figure retreats, weaving its own arms in an intricate pattern and murmuring in a low, breathy voice. Estel subsides into a dreamless state, deeper in slumber than she was before. However, beside her, Silver Fox's ears are twitching.

"I know. Somehow I know. Oh, Father, I miss you!" the girl Estel says, her eyes filling with tears. "I know, Estel," he replies, "but there's no time for that, child. I need you to listen to me carefully. This is a dream. Can you understand that? Can you sense that this is only a dream?" "Yes, I think so. I want to believe it's real, and stay here with you, but I can't, can I?" says Estel. "No, my girl. I'm sorry, but you mustn't. You have to wake up, now, child, it's very important. Wake up!"

"Father?" Estel asks, confused and a bit alarmed, since it was rare for him to be angry with her ever, much less for no perceptible reason. "That's just it, my child," he tells her in a more mild and somber tone. "It was, past tense, was rare..." Apparently in the dream, Estel's father can read her mind. She accepts this without question. But if so, then he's trying to tell her..." "Yes, my girl, I'm dead and gone. I'll be with you always, but not in a physical sense anymore, I'm afraid."
