Quickly enough, Syeha and Amen have stowed their gear and been given their own tour of the ship, this time by Shooting Star and Silver Fox both, with Maia and Makto as entourage, since there is nothing better to do. The ship's girl and ship's boy are pleased to have more people their own age to talk to and generally spend time with, but each is a bit jealous of the new passengers, especially the one of the same sex. Will the guests be expected to share the work? And would that be bad or good?

Then the pair of teens is occupied in greeting Shooting Star and Silver Fox, making the acquaintance of the senior officers and Maia, and re-encountering Makto, which turns out not to be particularly awkward at all. It's as though he remembers wanting to be with Syeha, but without passion, as if it were a dream or long past. He casts one or two wistful glances in the southern girl's direction, and that's it. Quietly Amen breathes a sigh of relief. This makes the situation much more livable.

Still, something in the back of Syeha's mind is vaguely... unsettled. She wishes she had danced on it, however there is no opportunity to be private now; the streets are teeming with people going about the business of a harbor town, which seems to be a more vigorous lifestyle than that cultivated by the Capitol City dwellers. In some mysterious way, all the bustle and activity fills the southern girl with vicarious energy as well, and she forgets her half formed misgivings for the time being.

There are, of course, things to worry about, but really, Amen seems to have thought of every eventuality and prepared for it. Either he has brought a passtime to while away the hours, or he has reasoned out a comforting argument as to why, for example, the ship is unlikely to sink even in the nastiest weather. Really, he doesn't know all that much about sailing, but the logic he does use is convincing: Shooting Star wouldn't have asked them on the journey if she had foreseen any genuine peril.
