The trio stay up talking and trading histories late into the night, and wake up on the morrow only to do it all over again. Even the initial awkwardness is repeated, although this is mainly on the part of Nitram in relation to her long absent husband. Makto finds it comparitively easy to get along with his fond and soft spoken father. Indeed, it is almost incredible to the lad that Irayo sails aboard a pirate... er... privateer ship, though he doesn't disbelieve the man's bravery or loyalty.

Then there is much exclaiming over minor differences: you have spectacles! my, how tall you are now! you didn't used to wear your hair that way! Yet an outside observer would have to conclude that these were not, in fact, strangers, for the sense of much love is present in these pleasantries. Finally, Irayo breaks the gridlock and lays his hand on his son's shoulder. From that point on it is difficult to tell who is hugging whom, and kissing and crying tears of gladness and release abound.

Accordingly, this is done, and all goes ideally. Nitram and Makto are very slightly skeptical, but that doubt is swamped in amazement and happiness. It is Syura's contribution that perhaps the family reunion should take place on neutral ground, in the home territory of neither side so no one will feel like an intruder. Shooting Star knows of a lush yet quiet inn on the large island that might be suitable, and thus it is arranged. When the actual event arrives, everyone is oddly shy at first.

"Perhaps you should allow them a few hours of warning, at least," suggests Uncle Anduin gently. "It is quite likely that they never expected to see you again, either." Irayo shakes his head, but in wonder, not in disagreement. "My boy. Eighteen! Where has the time gone?" The former cook looks up and inquires, "Uncle, would you please send a message to Syura of Bowing Tree Village that Irayo the short-sighted believes he has finally found his family and wants very much to meet them soon?"
