"I'm authorized to offer you the protection of the Yogurt secret service if you're willing to help bring down your syndicate... although I doubt you'll take it," continues Prem Deva. "Yes, you're right, especially if it would mean living here and abandoning my family," replies the #Noirfey assassin. "Although..." Cat muses, "there are more than a few syndicate members I wouldn't mind seeing brought to justice." (#Noxvaelia belongs to @Viva-la-Luna)
I'm happy that despite their confrontation, the two can still remain good friends. But I will say...I'm very wary about Cat's future. Especially for that of her "lover"...
Oddly enough, the tenor of the relationship between the two young ladies doesn't change much, except perhaps to deepen, now that they can discuss issues and problems arising from leading a double life. It seems totally natural to Catleya, for some reason, that her Kuromi friend should be as highly trained and potentially lethal as she is herself. They have always viewed themselves as equals, regardless of the eyes of the world. In fact, Catleya is proud of Prem Deva's many accomplishments.
"Good. And just so we're clear," Catleya begins, "I've omitted a fair amount, but..." "Never actually lied to me," finishes her best friend. "Just so we're clear, it has been the same with me," Deva asserts. "Then we should put away the knives now, and get to bed," both girls once again say almost in unison, because of the completeness of the rapport they share. "Truce?" asks Prem Deva, actually smiling now. "Friendship!" confirms Catleya, moving to hug her childhood playmate as Deva rises.
"So, it's getting very late... in more ways than one, Catleya," Prem Deva remarks. "What do you intend to do?" "Today?" asks Cat. "Go back to the guest quarters... if you'll let me. And give up. I think you may be right, Deva. Who in Noxvaelia will ever know that I was able to get into this house? I was barely able to do it at all, so that much is believable. And no one ever need know about this conversation, either," she finishes, effectively promising to keep her friend's own secret.
