Just a quick doll, since I've become greatly enamored of this film rendition of "Pride and Prejudice". For the scene in the dawn mist, I should have made a bridge and some fog, but I didn't feel up to a background today. Doesn't look very much like Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyn, but I tried.
I saw the Bollywood one largely because of the director and Anupam Kher, but it was fun! I hadn't seen true Bollywood since I was a child. Anyway, the 2005 version I play over and over on Netflix while I knit, and it doesn't get either boring or annoying, so that's saying something! I'm not a good enough knitter to watch something I don't know almost by heart, yet. :)
Yeah, I have seen the Bollywood-movie: it was a nice version, but to be honest, I've seen the movie only because of two actors: Indira Varma and Naveen Andrews ^^
Thanks for the reply Sara! I'll have to put this on my watch list. I have seen an old BBC version and liked it and also seen the bollywood style completely by accident. I had been looking for a movie to show my Mom when I came upon it so both of us watched it.
Thanks very much, launing! And I'm so sorry, I wrote 1980 when I meant 1995 (read the wrong line when typing)! I really enjoyed that version! I think you're right about Mary and Jane getting more characterization, too, launing, in the 2005 film, which I thoroughly approved of! I have only seen little bits of the movie from 1980, but maybe now I'll investigate it. :) Have either of you seen the Bollywood style movie "Bride and Prejudice"? It's fun, too.
Looks nice ^^ In the 2005 version I really love Mary and Jane! But the film I found not so good. Sorry ^^ But Mary was a fresh new interpretation of the family-outsider and Rosmund Pike was so beautiful as I had imagined Jane! I love the television serie from 1995 ^.^ The variation from 1980 I have not seen. Is it better?
Thanks very much, Falak!! In this scene they meet by "accident", both out walking at dawn half dressed, which is why no neck cloth and why her skirt is a bit transparent. This is from the 2005 film version starring the above actors. I was reluctant to watch it, too, because I so adore the book, and I admit that time is compressed and some speeches cut short, but I enjoyed the movie very much! It's probably not as good as the BBC version from 1980, which is a miniseries and much longer.
I love this doll!!! Two wonderful characters depicted in a realistic fashion. Which film version is this? I've only read the novel. Been afraid the movie will miss the story up.
