Efes's left eye was born deformed, it has no pupil and is milky and cloudy. In nature this eye had limit eye-sight, but 'thanks to' her abusive step-father, it has gone blind. Efes was said to see and speak 'strange things' in her childhood. Her step-father thought it was an opportunity and tried to introduce her to the Oracular Order. However, after close examination, the Blind Sisters deemed she must be put down. Efes somehow survived and fled (or perhaps was dumped) to the Flooded District. She was taken in by Daud for a period of time, but eventually left to establish her own reputation. One thing curious is that, after leaving Daud, Efes is still able to wield a considerable range of supernatural abilities, which suggests that Efes is very likely to have been marked by the Outsider as well. |
